Dear Upper School Families,

As you learned in Tuesday’s letter from our Head of School, we will be moving to our 50% Hybrid Model starting September 14th. This means the Upper School will combine its two maroon groups (V & K) into one and our two gray groups (N & G) into one. The groups will then have two days in-person, followed by two days online. The one interruption to the cycle is Wednesday, September 23rd, which is the day we administer the SAT here on campus.
50% Hybrid Schedule
Here are some additional reminders and details for the coming weeks:

  • All students should have rain jackets for soggy days.

  • Students in Zero Period courses report to that class with your health screen forms.

  • Attendance: parents should let our school know of any absences (whether students are missing virtually or in-person). Students, if you know you’re going to be absent in advance, please communicate that information with your teachers.

  • Freshman Study Hall reminder: students only report when they are on campus. There are no online study halls.

  • Please refrain from using the mySchoolApp (Blackbaud) messaging system to contact teachers at this time. Continue to use email.

  • Upper School Open House, September 15th (4:30-7:00 p.m.): the Upper School will open its doors to allow parents/guardians to see our spaces and experience the one-way halls and staircases. In order to social distance properly, we will be limiting the number of guests entering at any time and ask that only parents/guardians visit. There will be a few administrators and faculty members along the route to help direct you on your walking tour.

  • SAT Day at CA on September 23rd: many of our seniors and some juniors will be taking the SAT test here on campus during this day. The test will start at 8:00 a.m., students should come in dress code, and they will be assigned in small groups to classrooms in the Upper School. Students in grades 9 and 10, along with any junior and seniors not taking the test, will do asynchronous work from home. Test-takers will be free to go home upon completion of the test. Lunch will still be served to those who wish to stay for it.

  • Drop-Add Period ends on September 25th: students wishing to change, add or drop a class must do so by this date.

  • US (Virtual) Back-to-School Night on October 1st: parents and guardians will have the opportunity to meet teachers and hear about courses via Zoom. Details TBA.

While things don’t feel like they did a year ago at this time, we are grateful and happy to have students in our midst again. As always, should you have any questions about our school day, don’t hesitate to contact us. You’ll hear from us again soon!

Warmly,

Head of Upper School
