IMSA's golden anniversary celebration continues, including special 50-year tributes being held at the
Detroit Grand Prix this Saturday (watch on NBC Sports at 12:30pm) as well as the
Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park on July 19 and 20.
In celebration of IMSA’s anniversary, many teams are sporting throwback liveries to significant cars from the past. In early May, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR class championship-leading
Honda Civic Type-R debuted a throwback livery at the Mid-Ohio race.
At the Northeast Grand Prix, IMSA's merchandise booth located on The Midway will offer commemorative items such as T-Shirts and the book, “IMSA: Celebrating 50 Years.” The book follows the history of the series from its formation between John and Peggy Bishop and Bill France, Sr., to the first race at Pocono in 1969, to its current standing.
The
Fan Hospitality Tent and Insider's Club at the Northeast Grand Prix will host special 50th anniversary offerings, including guest speakers, book signing and autograph sessions, as well as memorabilia from Lime Rock Park's IMSA history.
