1 in 3 youth will grow up without a mentor.
But Chicago Lights is here to fill the gap. Our Tutoring program has provided one-to-one mentoring relationships for students for more than fifty years.
Each year more than 400 students participate in the program, which includes transportation to and from Tutoring, a healthy meal, enrichment classes, career prep, and one-to-one mentoring.
Mentorship matters. Students with mentors are:
- 55% more likely to enroll in college
- 130% more likely to hold leadership positions
- 78% more likely to volunteer regularly
- 52% less likely to skip school
"I've gotten to see Nari grow, not only in her academic skills but also as a responsible and thoughtful human being. I love being part of her life, which is very different from my own."
- Nick Minear, Tutoring Volunteer -
Paired with 9th grader Nari for six years
The 55th year of Chicago Lights Tutoring begins in less than two weeks. Mentorship matters today now more than ever as we support our students and help them graduate from high school, pursue higher education, and look toward meaningful careers.
Be a part of their lives today.
