Biomat USA is part of Grifols, a global health-care company that produces life-saving medicines out of plasma.
Plasma is needed today, more than ever. Every time a person gives plasma at a Grifols donor center, it goes towards helping people globally who have no other alternative than plasma-derived medicines to lead healthier lives.
Plasma donation is a painless procedure that thousands of people do each day. All Grifols centers have implemented protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including physical distancing throughout our facilities, enhanced cleaning processes, temperature monitoring, and requiring face coverings inside the centers.
Plasma is also playing a role in the fight against COVID-19Grifols is collecting plasma from those who have recovered from COVID-19 to produce an anti-SARS-CoV-2 hyperimmune globulin that will soon undergo controlled clinical trials with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to evaluate its safety and efficacy as a viable treatment for COVID-19.

Each week we are highlighting and reviewing member benefits. This week we're focusing on BEING AN ACTIVE MEMBER.

Chamber membership is a lot like a gym membership - you get out what you put in. Signing up is a great start, but if you really want to see results, follow these steps:

1) Attend events or join a committee. People do business with people they trust, and trust is built by spending time together. We have seen first hand how members collaborate and refer business to fellow members that they know. Take a look at the calendar and review our committees to see what may interest you.

2) Provide timely marketing materials for the lobby so the Chamber staff may effectively promote and refer your business.

3) Complete your online Member Directory listing (company description, social media platforms, address, phone number, email, staff list, directory category). If you need your login email Linda.

4) Participate in Chamber marketing efforts by providing details about your company's promotions and offerings (e.g. Nov(m)ember, Mother's Day/Father's Day campaign, etc.)

While you may not be able to do all 4 steps right away, please do #3. The Member Directory is the first point of contact for the general public and is also used by our staff when we get calls for referrals.
We are partnering with the Florida Chamber Foundation on a Workforce Study. Pre-COVID-19, Florida employers told us a skilled workforce was the top priority for 2020...then COVID happened. We need your help to understand your company's evolving workforce needs and the impact the pandemic is having on your recruiting and training goals. I realize you are asked to complete many of these, but if you complete this, then they will share the results with me, and I will then share the results with you! You can access the survey here.
Micky was adopted from Gulf Coast Humane Society* on April 12, 2019 when he was just 10 weeks old. Micky's humom, Lisa Rizzio, met him when he was on loan as the lobby puppy for the day at the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC)*, part of their Beesley's Paw Prints Pet Therapy Program (funded by Carol Beesley through United Way*) where she is the development director. Lisa knew right away that Micky had to come home with her and would make a perfect therapy dog. He was friendly and outgoing with everyone, never barked and didn't have any accidents all day. And he doesn't shed! Lisa and her family adopted him a few days later.
When Micky turned one last February, he was tested and certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. A month later everything shut down, so he hasn't been able to do many official therapy visits, but this past year he has provided his special brand of comfort to members of the CAC staff, especially the Child Protection Team, and to everyone he meets when they are out and about.
Micky has also raised money for CAC through their online Rescue Runway fundraiser, winning the Best Costume contest. He's a wonderful ambassador for the agency and has been a source of constant love and affection these past two years.
