2021 Parent Led Projects
Peace Meal Solidarity is coming back this year! We are looking for parents to be ambassadors for these events to help provide cultural information with each meal. This is a great way to have some fun, meet other parents, and get connected to some awesome events!
Do you have experience with postpartum depression? Parents will be part of developing an outreach campaign this year to help raise awareness about the importance of recognizing and supporting new parents who may experience postpartum depression.
Great Start Parents
Next meeting: Thursday 10/28 6-8PM
Be Part of Great Start Parents!
Great Start Parents meets 10 months of the year to build strong families, understanding of the early childhood system, and leadership skills in parents. Our meetings are open to anyone parenting a young child, including grandparents. Lead parents attend most meetings throughout the year and help projects relating to our with our 4 purposes:

  1. Providing a "customer" and "real time" parenting perspective to agencies and organizations in our region.
  2. Educate others about the importance of early childhood.
  3. Support the work of the Great Start Collaborative and 5toONE Project.
  4. Provide information, education, and resources to parents.

Stipends to participate, meals, and unique opportunities tend to arise for those who partake in our work together and we hope you will consider joining us this year.
Our next Great Start Parents meeting will be Thursday evening, October 28 from 6-8:00PM in our new parent space at the Oleson Center on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College. Dinner will be served, a family activity will take place, and we will have an education session on postpartum depression by registering in advance. Anyone caring for a child age 0-8 is welcome to attend this face to face meeting.
