Electronic Waste Recycling & Brush Drop Off | June 20

The McHenry Township Road District is again partnering with the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County to offer recycling programs for McHenry Township residents. This months opportunity to recycle is Saturday June 20, 2026 from 8:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be NO drop off of recycling items during the week. No Parking 2:00 a.m. – 6:00 a.m.

Overnight Parking FAQ

Can I park on a Village street overnight?

No. Parking on Village streets is not allowed between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. for more than 30 minutes. (Village Municipal Code Section 15.9 (C)

Is this being enforced?

Yes. Overnight parking enforcement is active and ongoing.

Can I request an exception?

Yes. Requests must be submitted before the overnight parking period.

How do I request an exception?

Submit a request through Frontline | Johnsburg or call the Johnsburg Police Department Non-Emergency line at 815-385-6024.

Village Landscape Waste Pick-Up

The Village's residential yard waste pick-up began April 1 and includes the removal of up to 8 bags, cans or bundles of landscape waste per week.

When bundling brush, each bundle must but be secured with biodegradable twine, no longer than 4’ in length, 2’ in diameter and no branch can be larger than 3” in diameter

Illinois Air Team @ Hiller Park:

Mobile Testing Units (MTUs) are now available to Illinois motorists in the area. MTUs are specially equipped emissions testing vans that are deployed to select locations to provide additional vehicle emissions testing options for the convenience of motorists. MTUs will be at Village of Johnsburg's Hiller Park June 22- June 26 from 10:00AM- 4:00PM. Motorists can use the Vehicle Eligibility Check Tool by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or License Plate Number to identify if their vehicles are eligible to test.
