Dear Grammar School Families,

Summer is certainly a time for rest, relaxation, and redeeming time with family. It also provides an opportunity to reflect upon the previous school year and begin thinking about the new one that is soon to begin! While we hope our scholars are enjoying their summer, we are excited to see them again when school resumes on August 10, 2023! Here are some updates and volunteer opportunities for the
2023 - 2024 school year -

Summer Reading
Reading for many is a favorite leisure activity. While we anticipate that Aristoi scholars are reading great books this summer, they also have been assigned one title for summer reading. This enables classes to begin with a purpose, discussing the book together. In an effort to ensure that students read well, a brief reflection has been assigned. Please see this link for the books and assignments. The assignments are due the first day of school, August 10, 2023. If your scholar is entering second, third, and fourth grade, they were given a Waggle log-in and password. This is just an optional activity for students to practice reading and math over the summer.

Academic & Character Awards
In 2023 - 2024 the Aristoi Katy Grammar School will return to the original criteria for Academic Awards. As such, Exemplary Honor Roll will be awarded in May to students who make all A’s in every quarter in every subject all year. Honor Roll will be awarded to students who maintain an A average in all subjects. In addition to the Head of Elementary award and the Citizenship award, we will also return to giving a Perseverance award. These character awards and the criteria for Exemplary Honor Roll and Honor Roll will be the same across all Aristoi campuses, including Katy Logic and Rhetoric School and Aristoi Cypress.

Outerwear
Please make sure your child has an Aristoi-approved sweater or jacket to wear outdoors. As per our Family Handbook, non-Aristoi outerwear is only permitted to be worn outdoors when it is extremely cold, usually 50 degrees or below.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are so vital to Aristoi Classical Academy! There are several ways in which you can be involved at the Katy Grammar School. Please see the links below for more information about each of these opportunities. Contact Kate Armstrong for any questions or for more information.

Lunch Assistant - Between 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM, we appreciate parents or grandparents assisting to open food containers and monitor our scholars in the lunchroom. Whether you have 30 minutes or two hours, sign-up on a weekly basis to serve in the lunchroom. Ms. Polvogt will review lunch protocols with you prior to your first opportunity. CLICK HERE for the link to sign-up.

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) - Sign up to be a part of our WATCH D.O.G.S. program to lend a hand around the school with facilities and visit with your student during lunch, recess, and/or “Specials” class. CLICK HERE for the link to sign-up.

Room Parent (two per classroom) - Stop by the PTO booth at Parent Orientation (August 2nd & 3rd) for sign-ups.

Library - We need people to check-in books, shelve books, and keep the library tidy. Times for this are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM. To give plenty of opportunities for all, one slot per person each week is allotted. You may sign up to help once a month, bi-monthly, or once a week. CLICK HERE for the link to sign-up.
