It's the middle of July and you're really feeling the toll of remote work and learning. You can't wait for the pandemic to be over. Thankfully, the end is in sight! We understand how you feel. We too are eagerly looking forward to having things return to normal again!

In the meantime, here are 6 things that you can do this summer to beat the blues! What better way to relax and rejuvenate than through art?
  1. Tune in to a comforting performance on your lunch break
TODAY: Wanes Moubayed and Edward Tarzi

Wanes is a music educator, performer, and conductor of the Canadian Arabic Orchestra. Edward is a Syrian-Canadian guitarist who plays Classical, Middle Eastern, fusion and jazz music.
July 22: Sam Dominique

Sam Dominique is a singer-songwriter from Markham. She is a classically trained opera singer and crossover artist with a love for R&B, Soul, and Jazz. If you love chill vibes, laid-back soul, and mellow keys, you'll want to tune in to this concert!
2. Find peace, acceptance, and inspiration through art therapy
Who: Seniors located anywhere!
What: Free group art therapy sessions with registered therapists. Themes: Coping with Change and Finding Calm during Chaos.
When: Upcoming sessions on July 12th, 15th, 19th, 21st, 22nd, and 28th
Where: Online via Zoom.
Why: Express, explore, and understand your emotions through a variety of art mediums while making new friends!
3. Make a new friend while dancing
Healing Dance Workshops
The amazing Munni Subhani will continue leading our free Healing Dance workshops for seniors! Come out and join us on July 6 and July 20 for uplifting 30-minute dance sessions.

4. Visit Main St. Unionville and explore the Unionville Market!

Enjoy all that Main Street Unionville has to offer while checking out all the amazing vendors at the new Unionville Market! We'll be there every Sunday.

5. Make an impact in your community by volunteering

Markham Arts Council invites you to get involved in some of the most exciting art events happening in the city. 

We're looking for volunteers to help:
  • Execute our programs, events, and festivals
  • Participate as a key member on one of our committees
  • Donate their time and expertise for the growth of the organization

6. Spend an evening with "Melodies of Emotion"

Markham's Kindred Spirits Orchestra presents "Melodies of Emotion", a virtual concert and onstage discussion featuring works by Chopin and Mendelssohn.

Tune in this Saturday at 8pm for a concert that will leave you in awe! Streamed live from the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.
