Our People in the Community
Amanda Watson is the Marketing Director for Holladay Properties and Holladay Construction Group. She primarily works out of the Portage, IN office, but is responsible for company-wide marketing efforts. In her free time, she is involved with Girl Scouts of America, where she serves as a Troop Leader and Service Unit board member, as well as Scouts BSA, where she volunteers with Troop 929 in Chesterton, IN. She previously featured her work with Girl Scouts of America, and today would like to focus on Scouts BSA.

Scouts BSA is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The organization provides programs for youths in fifth grade through high school that are designed to build character, promote physical fitness, foster community engagement, and encourage leadership development. Troop 929 in Chesterton, IN is made up of about 20 Scouts both male and female, who are all working towards earning the Eagle Scout rank, Scouting's highest achievement.

Troop 929 is known in the community as an Eagle "making machine," because of its dedicated volunteers that come together to help its Scouts become successful. Troop 929 has been a pillar of the Chesterton community for decades and has helped over 50 Scouts achieve the Eagle Scout rank since 1992.

Scouting helps youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that help share and influence their adult lives. Since 1910, Scouting has helped mold the future leaders, providing youths with programs designed to help meet six essential needs: mentoring, lifelong learning, faith traditions, serving others, healthy living, and building character.

Scouts in Troop 929 are among thousands currently fundraising for their Scouting adventures through the annual Trail's End Popcorn sale. To support Troop 929 with a purchase or donation, visit
