Children in Foster Care

Together we can do it, one blanket at a time!
Current number: 13,378

Are you working on some blankets at home? It's time to finish and bring them in to add toward our 2020 goal, like these 25 beautiful blankets donated by Blanket Angel Ann.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

My Very Own Blanket is still up and running to bring blankets of love, comfort and hope to children in foster care. Here is how you can help us do just that!

  • Order no-sew fleece blanket kits online here. Pick up inside our workshop, Monday - Friday, 9 am to Noon, or use our 24-hour curbside pick-up bin just outside the workshop.

  • Drop off your quilted, crocheted, knitted and fleece blankets in the donation bin outside our workshop. We gather them up daily.

  • Not local to Central Ohio? Sponsor our "no-sew" blanket kits online to have them sent to you. We will help you get in contact with your local children's services to deliver to kids in care in your area!
Bid on this and many other panel quilts for children during our online auction in February.
Online fundraisers provide $2,405!
Our November virtual auction resulted in $1,385 -- enough for fleece blankets for 140 kids in foster care. At our next auction, coming in February, bid on panel quilts like the one shown, perfect for that special child in your life. Details coming to your inbox.

On #GivingTuesday, December 1, our blanket angels provided $1,020 in donations.

We are so blessed by the generosity of our supporters. You are vital to our ability to continue to provide blankets to children in foster care, especially during these difficult times.
60 x 60 Birthday Project
Shirley, turning 60 this year, planned many significant birthday activities to mark the occasion. However, COVID-19 quarantine prevented her from doing most of them.

She decided instead to send 60 people $60 each and asked them to give it to anyone they chose.

Elaine received her $60, decided to purchase 6 fleece blanket kits, and made the blankets in Shirley’s honor for children in foster care. What a wonderful and unique way to celebrate a birthday!
Foster Care Facts
Kinship Care
When a child cannot live with parents, kinship caregivers often take full-time responsibility of caring for that child, providing ongoing stability, support and guidance. A kinship caregiver can be a relative or a close family friend. Ohio Department of Job and Family Services estimates that 9% of all Ohio children are being raised by kinship caregivers. Ohio offers assistance for eligible kinship caregivers. Learn more
Do you advocate for children in foster care?
If you are a caseworker or advocate for children in foster care, we would love to provide blankets that you can share with kids who could use something to hold onto. Just tell us how many you need. 614-530-3327 or [email protected]
Your blankets make a difference at the Buckeye Ranch Foster Care Program
In early November, Jessica delivered 70 handmade blankets to the foster care program at Buckeye Ranch's new location in Whitehall, The Michael & Paige Crane Center for Children and Families.

Buckeye Ranch Foster Care is a network of treatment foster homes and service providers across Ohio committed to the well-being of children, youth, and families who need security and assistance.

Thanks to our Blanket Angels who help us show hundreds of kids in care--at Buckeye Ranch and elsewhere--that they are LOVED!
