Quarter 2 brings several special events that showcase our students’ creativity and talent, including our upcoming musical production of The Wizard of Oz and the Orchestra POPS Concert. We’re also looking forward to our Family Engagement Night: Curriculum Carnival and Latino Family Engagement Night—wonderful opportunities to connect, support one another, and strengthen our school community. We hope you can join us for these meaningful occasions.
With shorter days and colder weather setting in, it’s a good time to prioritize both physical and mental wellness. Exercise, staying hydrated, and getting plenty of rest all support students’ energy and focus during the school day. A little self-care—whether through a favorite hobby, spending time with loved ones, or enjoying a quiet moment—can go a long way in helping feel recharged and ready to learn. Here’s to a successful and rewarding season for all.
Take care, be well, and GO PARK!

PARK PRIDE EXPECTATION AND AGREEMENT REMINDERS
At SLPHS, we’re dedicated to fostering a positive school climate through our Park PRIDE approach. By consistently reteaching and reviewing our school-wide expectations and agreements, we ensure a respectful, supportive, and safe environment where all students can thrive.
Personal Electronic / Cell Phone & 1:1 Device Policy
We recognize that cell phones have become an essential part of daily life, offering convenience and connection in many ways. However, within the school environment, cell phones can often become a distraction that disrupts learning. To promote an environment that is focused, safe, and conducive to learning, we have a clear policy in place regarding the use of personal electronic devices on school property.
SLPHS Students may possess or use personal electronic devices on school property, on school buses, or at school-sponsored events according to the following guidelines:
- Cell phones/electronic devices/earbuds may be used:
- Before school until the beginning of the school day at 8:25 a.m.
- During a student’s passing time
- During a student’s assigned lunch period
- After school, beginning at 3:15 p.m.
- Personal electronics should be put away during instructional time. During class time electronics should be kept in your backpack, purse, or pocket and completely silenced.
- Students whose electronics are seen or heard during instructional time may have their devices confiscated.
-
All classrooms are equipped with landlines for any emergency needs, so students do not need their cell phones during instructional hours. This policy is essential to maintaining an environment that supports everyone’s learning and well-being.
| |
Food and drink must remain in the designated cafeteria area. Food and/or drink outside of these designated areas will be confiscated. Please help keep our hallways and learning spaces clean and pest free.
HALLWAY RESETS ARE COMING...
Students are expected to be in class or in their assigned space on time, everyday. Students are considered tardy if they arrive after the scheduled passing time bell. Students must have a pass to class to excuse any tardy after the passing time bell, otherwise the tardy is unexcused and subject to classroom interventions. Arriving late by more than 10 minutes without a pass is considered a partial absence, and counts as an unexcused absence.
To support students in getting to class on time, we will be implementing hallway resets beginning next week. During a hallway reset, any student still in the hallway after the passing bell will be noted by staff and escorted to class. An administrator or ASC team member will reach out to the student’s parent or guardian by email. Excessive tardies could lead to students being placed on the no pass list for a period time. Thank you for your support in helping us create a focused and productive learning environment for all students.

PARENT DROP-OFF/PICK-UP EXPECTATIONS
Parent pick-up and drop-off will start at the intersection of Dakota and 33rd and end at the intersection of 33rd and Edgewood. Students are to enter through Door 1 and Door 15.
When students are dropped off after 8:25am or picked up early from school, please always use Door 1 and make sure students are signed in and out of the Front Office. Please see parent pick-up and drop-off map for more detailed directions.
*As a friendly reminder, please do not move any signs, cones, or sandwich boards that are placed in or around the parking lot. This creates an unsafe situation for our students and families.
Thank you for your support and understanding.

Calling all parents!
The Career Advisory Board is hosting a career fair for students on Thursday, Nov. 21 over the three lunch periods. (12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.) Students will have the opportunity to interact with community members and parents across various careers.
At our high school career fair, students can:
-
Explore different careers: They learn about various industries and roles that might interest them.
-
Network: They can connect with professionals from different fields and ask questions about day-to-day responsibilities, required skills, and career growth.
-
Learn about internships or part-time jobs: Some employers might offer opportunities for students to gain experience while still in school.
-
Receive career advice: Representatives can provide insights on how to prepare for certain careers, including educational requirements and skills.
-
Discover post-secondary options: Colleges and technical schools often participate to present educational programs that lead to specific careers.
If you would like to host a table to represent your career or organization and engage with students, please reach out to Peggy Weller at peggy.l.weller@gmail.com.
