IMPORTANT DATES

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE:

Dear SLPHS Families,

As we wrap up Quarter 1, I want to thank our students, families, and staff for their dedication and hard work. It’s been inspiring to see students’ growth and engagement throughout the first quarter. We’re looking forward to building on this momentum as we transition into Quarter 2. A reminder: there will be no school for students on Tuesday, November 5, due to the election. We encourage everyone eligible to participate in this important civic process!

November also marks Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor and celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American communities. Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to learn more about this rich heritage through activities and classroom discussions.

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Family Engagement Night: Curriculum Carnival on November 21st from 4:30 to 7:30 PM! This event offers a non-traditional approach to conferences, where families can meet and greet teachers while engaging in activities that showcase what students are learning in class. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect, ask questions, and experience a bit of the curriculum firsthand. We look forward to seeing you there!

Lastly, the Parent Engagement Advisory Council (PEAC) has asked us to share an update on their ongoing fundraiser. PEAC's efforts directly support initiatives that benefit our students and school community. More information about their work and how to participate in the fundraiser is included below. Thank you for your continued support!

Take care, be well, and GO PARK!

WAYS YOU CAN HELP

Calling all parents!

The Career Advisory Board is hosting a career fair for students on Thursday, Nov. 21 over the three lunch periods. (12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.) Students will have the opportunity to interact with community members and parents across various careers.

At our high school career fair, students can:

  1. Explore different careers: They learn about various industries and roles that might interest them.
  2. Network: They can connect with professionals from different fields and ask questions about day-to-day responsibilities, required skills, and career growth.
  3. Learn about internships or part-time jobs: Some employers might offer opportunities for students to gain experience while still in school.
  4. Receive career advice: Representatives can provide insights on how to prepare for certain careers, including educational requirements and skills.
  5. Discover post-secondary options: Colleges and technical schools often participate to present educational programs that lead to specific careers.

If you would like to host a table to represent your career or organization and engage with students, please reach out to Peggy Weller at peggy.l.weller@gmail.com.

A second career fair will be hosted in the spring that focuses on summer employment opportunities.

Looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and fun! Fill out this form to get emails directly as needs/opportunities arise.
