NEW METHOD FOR REPORTING STUDENT ABSENCES | |

Coming in December: New method for reporting student absences!
Starting Monday, December 9th, St. Louis Park High School will be updating its attendance procedure to make it more convenient for parents and guardians to excuse students. While the attendance line at 952-928-6045 will remain available, parents and guardians will be able to report student absences by emailing hsattendance@slpschools.org.
This change will replace the Google form, which will be deactivated on December 9th. Please ensure that emails come from a parent or guardian's email address listed in the student’s contacts in Powerschool. This update will streamline the attendance process and align with the attendance reporting methods used by our other schools in the district. We appreciate your cooperation in adopting this new system.

REMINDER: QUARTER 1 GRADING | |

Your student's grade at the end of Quarter 1 (Q1) serves as a progress report, reflecting their performance up to this point. Please note that Q1 is not a final grade; it indicates their current grade up to November 11th, and will not appear on the transcript or factor into the GPA.
The final grade for the course will be determined on January 24th, at the end of semester one (S1), and will be recorded on the transcript, contributing to the student's GPA.

P2C Chapter One (P2C-Y) program is focused on preparing underserved and under-represented high school juniors and seniors for college success, immediate jobs, and great careers! Dunwoody works with community organizations and industry partners to identify and build relationships using mentors, hands-on activities and academic support.
Who: Open to current high school juniors and seniors interested in a technical career
When: June 9- June 27, 2025
Time: Monday-Friday | 9am-3:30pm

St. Louis Park High School Theatre Presents
The Wizard of Oz
November 14-16 and 21-23
Based on the stories of L. Frank Baum, the musical portrays Dorothy’s journey over the rainbow and through the land of Oz to discover that, truly, there’s no place like home. This version, adapted by the Royal Shakespeare Company, features the original music from the 1939 film.
Performances are November 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 7:00 pm and November 16 and 23 at 2:00 pm. All performances will be held in the St. Louis Park High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens, and free with student ID for all SLPHS students.

Our special “Donuts With Dorothy” performance will be on Saturday, November 23, at 11:00 am. We will present an abbreviated version of the play, followed by snacks with the cast and crew in the new High School cafeteria. Additional activities include face painting, behind-the-scenes demonstrations, and photo opportunities. This event is suitable for ages 2-12. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are limited, so buy yours now.

Calling all parents!
The Career Advisory Board is hosting a career fair for students on Thursday, Nov. 21 over the three lunch periods. (12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.) Students will have the opportunity to interact with community members and parents across various careers.
At our high school career fair, students can:

Explore different careers: They learn about various industries and roles that might interest them.

Network: They can connect with professionals from different fields and ask questions about day-to-day responsibilities, required skills, and career growth.

Learn about internships or part-time jobs: Some employers might offer opportunities for students to gain experience while still in school.

Receive career advice: Representatives can provide insights on how to prepare for certain careers, including educational requirements and skills.

Discover post-secondary options: Colleges and technical schools often participate to present educational programs that lead to specific careers.

The Mayor for a Day Essay Contest is back to find out!
To enter, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders can answer the prompt, “What would you do if you were mayor for a day?” for a chance to win $100 and recognition in Minnesota Cities magazine.
The deadline for submissions is Dec. 13. Students and parents/guardians can submit essays via an online form, a PDF email attachment, or through the mail. Winners only will be notified in early January. Some cities may provide additional local recognition for participants.
How can you submit your essays?
There are three ways to send us your students’ essays.

Submit online – students can enter their essays into this online form and submit them directly.

Print and Mail – you can print this document for students to handwrite their essays and then mail them in to 145 University Ave. W, Saint Paul, MN 55103.

Email as an attachment – students can type their essays into the fillable PDF, save the document, and then email the finalized PDF to mayorforaday@lmc.org.
