WE CELEBRATE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH | |

November is Native American Heritage Month
St. Louis Park Public Schools exist on the land of the Dakota and Ojibwe peoples. We acknowledge the Dakota and Ojibwe community, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations. We acknowledge that our school district was founded upon exclusions and erasures of many Indigenous Peoples, including those on whose land our school district is located. We commit to dismantling the ongoing legacies of colonial power and the district’s desire to support the ongoing work of local Indigenous communities to thrive in our schools. Especially this month, we celebrate Native American Heritage Month and honor the Indigenous students and families we serve in St. Louis Park Public Schools.

ELECTION DAY - NOVEMBER 7TH | |

Election Day is Nov 7th and SLPHS is a polling site. Polling station hours are 7 am - 8 pm. We will host community members on the far west side of the Activity Center (Court 3). Voters will be asked to use door 16 to enter and exit the building. The Activity Center and Athletics Door 15 area will be closed to student access from 7:00 am-11:55 am and 1:35 pm-8:00 pm. Student lunch will continue in the Activity Center using courts 1 and 2 between 12:00 pm-1:30 pm per our usual schedule and we will have increased supervision in the the polling area.

FAMILY CONNECTION DAY - NOVEMBER 17TH (ASYNCHRONOUS DAY) | |
St. Louis Park High School is excited to host our first Family Connect Day on Friday, November 17th. This day is designed to increase classroom connections and engage families in the school experience differently than traditional conferences. We hope to immerse students and their families in activities that highlight curriculum and instruction, as well as provide student support and resources. A schedule will be provided closer to the date with a menu of activities to choose from. We hope to see you there! GO PARK!! | |

Voter pre-registration is now available for 16 and 17 year-olds in Minnesota! This means anyone not yet of voting age can register in advance and be ready vote the day they turn 18. We would like to inform all parents and students about the registration for the IB External Assessment that will take place in May 2024. Please take note of the following essential details:

Educational Benefits: Eligible students are encouraged to complete the requisite form to explore potential financial assistance.

Late Fee: Commencing on November 16th, a late fee of $40 will be imposed. Early registration is advised to avoid this additional cost.

Registration Deadline: The official registration deadline for the exam is December 15th, with the late fee still in effect.

Are you looking for a place to study and work on homework after school?
The Orioles’ Nest is the place for you!
Whether you are looking for a place to work on group projects, complete credit recovery work or a space for more individual support the Nest is your after school academic support hub!
The Nest is located in the Learning Lab in the A2 Hallway and runs on most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm -5:30pm.
Please sign up for the Nest in advance through Student Support Time. Only 25 students are allowed a night, if your name is not on the list you will be asked to try again for another night!
Need transportation? Not a problem! The after school activity bus picks students up at 5:45pm and drops students off at hub stops. Please sign up for transportation 5 days before you plan on attending.

Senior Photos: Due Date Approaching!
Attention all senior families,
All senior photos are due by November 20th, 2023.
Photo requirements:

Upload ONE full color JPEG (.jpg) file of a digital photo. Do NOT upload PNG or TIFF files. Super important!

Photo quality needs to be a minimum of 300 DPI or higher for “actual size” of a photo. *High resolution is important for publishing purposes.
- The yearbook prefers a formal photo with straight-on, head and shoulders shot.
- We will not accept horizontal photos - vertical only!
- No props or hands by the face in photos. No borders or special effects.
- If a photo is not submitted, the senior year Lifetouch photo will be used. If no Lifetouch photo is taken and no photo is submitted by individuals, then you will not be in the yearbook.

St. Louis Park High School Theatre Presents
Emma: A Pop Musical November 10-12 and 17-19
Eric Price’s musical adaptation sets Jane Austen’s classic novel in a modern high school. Emma, a meddling but well-intentioned matchmaker, vows to find the perfect pairing for her cluelessly lovelorn friend, Harriet. When Emma’s matches misfire, she learns the value of listening to one’s heart, including her own. Featuring the female-forward music of Whitney Houston, Katy Perry, Cyndi Lauper, Shania Twain, Sara Bareilles, and many more, Emma: A Pop Musical will have audiences humming along.
Due to construction at the High School, all performances will be held at the St. Louis Park Middle School Performing Arts Center, located at 2025 Texas Ave S. Performances are November 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 7:00 p.m. and November 12 and 19 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens, and free with student ID for all SLPHS students. Free Walk-in Clinic for all St. Louis Park Public Schools Students
Central Community Clinic
The Central Community Clinic is a free, walk-in clinic for children from birth to high school who live or go to public or private schools in St. Louis Park. Central Clinic's mission is to reduce barriers to healthcare for the children and youth of our community.
Services are no-cost and include:
- treatment for acute illness and injuries
- well-child/baby check-ups
- immunizations and vaccines (for uninsured/Medical Assistance/MNCARE)
- sports and camp physicals
- sexual health care
Interpreters can be arranged by calling ahead of time. At this time, Central Clinic is not able to administer Covid vaccines.

The Central Clinic was founded in 1996 as a response to the Children First initiative. The clinic is funded by a grant from the Park Nicollet Foundation, staffed by doctors from Park Nicollet Creekside Clinic, and governed by an advisory council.

View updates from Knutson Construction and St. Louis Park Public Schools about construction projects in the school district. October highlights include project milestones and progress for the High School and Middle School.
Fun Fact: There are three air handling units that were hoisted up to the roof of the Middle School. The total weight of all the units is 5,433 pounds, which is roughly equivalent to a Knutson truck! View the construction updates webpage.

The Orioles Nest needs your snacks! The Orioles Nest provides space for students to do their homework and get assistance/tutoring from our wonderful teachers! And after a full day of school, our students need a little fuel to keep their brains engaged, so having snacks on hand is helpful. St. Louis Park Dollars for Scholars, affiliated with Scholarship America, is a volunteer, community based organization committed to raising scholarship funds for St. Louis Park High School senior students. Did you know…their 2022 Awards Night celebrated 97 graduating seniors with $130,000 in Dollars for Scholars scholarship awards. Lead the Ultimate Sport for the Mind: the FIRST Robotics team for SLPHS - established in 2009, this team brings together students who have a love of robotics. The team is looking for a new leader who will support the team in 2024 by helping students raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots. A new leader will have access to a very supportive community of team leaders from other schools. To learn more about this role, please contact Ken Rosen at krosen@firstinspires.org.
