St Louis Park High School would like to extend our gratitude to those who have served our country both past and present.

FAMILY CONNECTION DAY NOVEMBER 17TH (ASYNCHRONOUS DAY)

St. Louis Park High School is excited to host our first Family Connect Day on Friday, November 17th. This day is designed to increase classroom connections and engage families in the school experience differently than traditional conferences. We hope to immerse students and their families in activities that highlight curriculum and instruction, as well as provide available student support and resources. A schedule is provided below with a menu of activities to choose from.

Stay as long as you’d like. We hope to see you there! GO PARK!!

NOTE: Students are expected to access instruction and assignments on Schoology and respond to the prompts for each of their courses no later than 2 pm on Friday, November 17th.

PARKING LOT LITTERING

Keeping our school grounds clean is of the utmost importance. We can contribute to keeping it clean by not littering in our parking lot or the surrounding area. If students are found littering this could result in the loss of the students parking privileges. Please refer to our school’s Good Neighbor Policy, as littering also has an impact on neighbors of St. Louis Park High School.

GOOD NEIGHBOR POLICY

St. Louis Park High School students are expected to respect our neighbors and not litter, loiter, smoke, trespass, or act inappropriately on or near their property. Failure to do so will result in a Tier 2 intervention designed for restoration.

COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP EVENT

On Monday November 6th, the Environmental club and the St.Louis Park community participated in a neighborhood clean-up. We would like to thank the over twenty-five people that participated in this event. If you would like to join the Environmental Club, or participate in the next community clean-up, please email @ Emily Rennhak.

SPEED LIMIT GUIDANCE

It is imperative for all cars to drive under 10 mph in our school's parking lot and 20 mph in the surrounding neighborhood. Adhering to this speed limit will help ensure the safety and well being of our students on campus. Going over the speed limit could result in ticketing or loss of parking privileges for students.

SLP STAFF DIRECTORY

We’re pleased to announce that the new searchable online staff directory is now available to the public. You can search the directory by name, department, location, and position. For example, search keywords such as principal, nurse, or counselor. View the staff directory.

SENIORS PHOTOS : DUE DATE APPROACHING!

Attention all senior families,

All senior photos are due by November 20th, 2023.

Photo requirements:

Upload ONE full color JPEG (.jpg) file of a digital photo. Do NOT upload PNG or TIFF files. Super important!

Photo quality needs to be a minimum of 300 DPI or higher for “actual size” of a photo. *High resolution is important for publishing purposes.

The yearbook prefers a formal photo with straight-on, head and shoulders shot.

We will not accept horizontal photos - vertical only!

No props or hands by the face in photos. No borders or special effects.

If a photo is not submitted, the senior year Lifetouch photo will be used. If no Lifetouch photo is taken and no photo is submitted by individuals, then you will not be in the yearbook.

EMMA: A POP MUSICAL

St. Louis Park High School Theatre Presents

Emma: A Pop Musical November 17-19

Eric Price’s musical adaptation sets Jane Austen’s classic novel in a modern high school. Emma, a meddling but well-intentioned matchmaker, vows to find the perfect pairing for her cluelessly lovelorn friend, Harriet. When Emma’s matches misfire, she learns the value of listening to one’s heart, including her own. Featuring the female-forward music of Whitney Houston, Katy Perry, Cyndi Lauper, Shania Twain, Sara Bareilles, and many more, Emma: A Pop Musical will have audiences humming along.

Due to construction at the High School, all performances will be held at the St. Louis Park Middle School Performing Arts Center, located at 2025 Texas Ave S. Performances are November 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 7:00 p.m. and November 12 and 19 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens, and free with student ID for all SLPHS students. CHANGE TO CHLL

As the holiday season approaches, November can be a great time to connect with friends and family members. However this may also be a time that individuals deal with loss or grief for those no longer with us. It's important to reflect on how we are feeling. NEW PARKTV CHANNELS FOR SLP BOARD MEETINGS AND OTHER PROGRAMMING

ParkTV is updating its Comcast cable channels to include more high definition (HD) channels, while still maintaining standard definition (SD) viewing options. St. Louis Park Public Schools programming, including concerts, plays, school board meetings and sports, can now be viewed on HD Ch. 859 and SD Ch. 16. View the airing schedule.

Additionally, you can watch school board meetings and other videos on our Youtube channel.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PEAC)

Our Parent Engagement Advisory Committee (PEAC) Mission:

We partner to create a collaborative and inclusive learning environment for students, families and educators that fosters and embraces the brilliance of the St. Louis Park community.

Parents and Caregivers, a special thanks to all those who attended the PEAC meeting Wednesday night. Musings from one parent in attendance:

I am constantly impressed with the quality of education and dedication of our staff to ensure every student gets what they need to succeed. Within one hour, we heard about so many things that are ensuring our student's educational, emotional and social needs are met. We also heard about opportunities for student voice, involvement, development and resources for students to ensure they have a post HS plan. Our kids are in VERY good hands and this grateful parent appreciates it.

Here are just a few of the many things our Staff is doing:

The Nest after school study help is staffed by various departments every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - including transportation home.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Evaluation happened in October to ensure classes follow a rigorous curriculum. The goal is that EVERY student takes at least one IB or AP (Advanced Placement) class while at Park because every student can succeed.

Screenagers was shown in Park Connections this week and students will unpack it - screentime, vaping, mental health - over the next few weeks.

Scholarships available for FREE tuition for 2 and 4 year programs through a MN Northstar Promise fund.

Direct admissions for all Seniors for all MN schools through a program the Career and College Readiness department opts into.

Vaping Grant to get at the heart of the issue (vs focusing solely on punitive measures) to treat this addiction brought on by corporate marketing.

Restorative practice (RP), Continuous improvement plans (CIP) and Collaborative Action Research for Equity (CARE) goals in motion that includes student voice on a regular cadence.

Principal's Advisory Council meets regularly so the student voice is present as practices, instruction, social/emotional and curriculum continue to evolve.

BARR 9th grade teaching teams who meet on their pod of students weekly to discuss each student, needs, trends, and specific actions to get ahead of issues and keep all students on a positive track.

9th grade Youth Frontiers respect retreat this week for all 9th graders funded via a grant.

Emma the Musical is happening over the next couple weekends in the Middle School Auditorium.

The Career Advisory Board met on Nov. 10 to ensure students are getting experiences, the most up-to-date curriculum that matches real world needs, staff development and more.

Family Day is coming up Nov. 17 - a great way to get a taste of school as well as most services will be present.

Construction is ongoing and on track! The new classrooms and 3rd floor hall is fresh, modern and unique to each department to foster ideal learning, Nearly every classroom will be updated over the next year or so. It's beautiful!

Weekly Park Connections classes with focus around P.R.I.D.E, Career and college readiness, Restorative practices and Social emotional learning.

Naviance as a one stop shop tool students use at every level to understand their passions and what careers fit those passions, post HS education needed to fulfill their dreams to become a productive member of society who earns a living wage.

The Orioles Nest needs your snacks! The Orioles Nest provides space for students to do their homework and get assistance/tutoring from our wonderful teachers! And after a full day of school, our students need a little fuel to keep their brains engaged, so having snacks on hand is helpful.
