St. Louis Park High School prides itself on being an inclusive community of diverse learners. Most often, our students demonstrate respect for others and thrive together in the inclusive culture we work hard to nurture. We hold high expectations for both academic and behavior standards. To maintain our safe environment and to focus on learning, it is essential that students conduct themselves in a manner that allows each individual to show up as their authentic selves. Creating and sustaining a culture and climate of safety and care requires each of us to honor the identities of our students, staff, and families.
The war between Israel and Hamas can be felt globally and is activating strong emotions for some students in our learning community. While we witnessed many students and staff supporting each other in amazing ways, we have experienced some inappropriate behavior among students as well. Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and other forms of hate and/or bias often manifest during times of crises, war, violence, and terrorism. Actions that dehumanize the identity of our SLPHS community are unacceptable and are taken seriously.
As an institution of education, we aim to interrupt harm caused, while teaching students to do better. To that end, we will take the following actions:
- Continue to collaborate with staff about community expectations so that they understand how to support students.
- Hold students accountable for interactions resulting in harm by utilizing the array of tools available to us in our district student intervention policy.
- Review community expectations with students by collaborating with our Park PRIDE/Connections Advisory committee.
- Provide restorative spaces for all SLPHS community members, especially those directly impacted by this conflict.
- Ensure contact information for leadership team members is accessible for both students and families.
- Increase communication with students and families about supports available, in particular families most directly impacted by the conflict.
Support for students
As we lean into the mission, vision, and core values of our diverse community, SLPHS would like to remind you that if students see or experience situations of bullying, harassment, or the use of hate speech, please report it immediately to high school administration.
Students needing support in processing global events have access to our student support team of counselors, social workers, ASCs, and administrators. Students can find their support staff here.
We also encourage families to review Talking to Children and Teens About the Israel-Gaza War, which provides a starting point for adults in our community to process these global events with students.

Registration: IB External Assessment
We would like to inform all parents and students about the registration for the IB External Assessment that will take place in May 2024. Please take note of the following essential details:

Registration Fee: $70

Educational Benefits: Eligible students are encouraged to complete the requisite form to explore potential financial assistance.

Late Fee: Commencing on November 16th, a late fee of $40 will be imposed. Early registration is advised to avoid this additional cost.

Registration Deadline: The official registration deadline for the exam is December 15th, with the late fee still in effect.

Are you looking for a place to study and work on homework after school?
The Orioles’ Nest is the place for you!
Whether you are looking for a place to work on group projects, complete credit recovery work or a space for more individual support the Nest is your after school academic support hub!
The Nest is located in the Learning Lab in the A2 Hallway and runs on most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm -5:30pm.
Please sign up for the Nest in advance through Student Support Time. Only 25 students are allowed a night, if your name is not on the list you will be asked to try again for another night!
Need transportation? Not a problem! The after school activity bus picks students up at 5:45pm and drops students off at hub stops. Please sign up for transportation 5 days before you plan on attending.

Lead the Ultimate Sport for the Mind: the FIRST Robotics team for SLPHS - established in 2009, this team brings together students who have a love of robotics. The team is looking for a new leader who will support the team in 2024 by helping students raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots. A new leader will have access to a very supportive community of team leaders from other schools. To learn more about this role, please contact Ken Rosen at krosen@firstinspires.org.

Their 2022 Awards Night celebrated 97 graduating seniors with $130,000 in Dollars for Scholars scholarship awards. Eat Donuts and Learn More About Park Public Schools & Community Foundation
On Thursday, Nov.16, 2023, between 7 - 9:30 a.m., at Angel Food Bakery, learn more about the Park Public Schools & Community Foundation (PPS&CF) and the amazing work being done in our community and schools with grants made possible by the Foundation and our generous donors.
Every year, the PPS&CF raises funds and makes grants to teachers in our district in grades pre k-12 for projects that inspire and enhance our students’ education. In the 2022-23 school year alone, the Foundation was able to make grants totaling over $55,000! Examples include paying for new play equipment for preschoolers; a potter’s wheel and slab at the Middle School; exciting field trips to bring classroom learning to life; a mobile makerspace; a kindness rocks garden project; innovative instruments combining engineering and music; and cutting edge technology bridging the physical education and science curriculums at the High School.
