APPLY FOR EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS

Our school offers healthy meals each day. Starting school year 2023-24, we are joining Minnesota’s Free School Meals Program. All students can get one breakfast and one lunch free of charge each day at school. Although no application is required to receive this free meal benefit, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important!

Your child(ren) may qualify for other benefits like reduced fees at school. Your application may also help our school qualify for education funds, discounts, and other meal programs.

We encourage all families to fill out an application for educational benefits for the 2023-24 school year.

SCHOOL PICTURES

You can purchase pictures online at mylifetouch.com and enter code: EVTW34CN7

LifeTouch will take school pictures for Grades 9-11 on September 8th in the small gym during their English class.

If you choose not to purchase a photo package, you should still have your picture taken in order to receive your student identification badge in October and to be included in the yearbook.

If you are unable to get your picture taken, there will be make-up pictures on October 12th.

The Echowan staff is dedicated to ensuring every student’s name is listed in the yearbook in a way that honors and affirms their identity.

When you order pictures:

If your student doesn’t have a school picture:

  • Their name will be listed on the class portrait page as “not pictured”

DEADLINES:

The creation of our yearbook is a long process that starts before the beginning of the school year. There are several hard deadlines between our staff and Josten’s printer throughout the year.

The class portrait pages are typically our first pages with deadlines to the printer. Because of that, we ask that any name changes be made by December 31st to make sure preferred names are listed in the yearbook.

If a name change is needed after December 31st, please reach out to Kelsey Hanson, Echowan Advisor, at [email protected].

SENIORS:

  • Submit your photos to this link
  • The Echowan staff will communicate to seniors and families about missing photos

Seniors will be submitting their own photos, from either a senior photo shoot or a recent picture that they select of themselves. If you have your photos now, use the link above.

Once school starts, you can go to slpechowan.org and click on the senior pictures link. The picture does not have to be professional.

Reminder - your school picture will appear in the yearbook. Please dress accordingly.

ECHOWAN NAME FORM

In an effort to honor our LGTBQ community, please fill out this form if your student has a preferred, correct name that is different from what appears in PowerSchool or what LifeTouch may have on record.

Please note that this is not an official name change request. This will be used to cross reference names in student publications to ensure that every name is correct and honors your student’s identity.

IMPORTANT ATHLETIC INFORMATION

For all home athletic events where admission is charged, ticketing is only done electronically.

Adult admission is $8 and student admission is $6 (plus a service fee for either). Single event tickets or 15 event passes can be purchased here.

All St. Louis Park High School students have free admission to regular season home events, but need to register here.

There will be QR codes on site at the event to purchase your ticket if needed, but no cash will be accepted.

PARENT DROP OFF & PICK UP INFORMATION

St. Louis Park High School Prides itself on creating a safe environment for all community members. This includes our campus parking lot. Please practice safe driving and remain aware of your surroundings. Parents and caregivers, please make sure to use the front entrance (Door 1) area for drop off & pick up during arrival and dismissal. After school pick up is prohibited in the south lot in front of the athletic entrance (door 15). Use of this lot disrupts our ability to effectively transport students to athletic events and competitions because it causes congestion and buses cannot pass through.

For questions, reach out to AP Parks at [email protected]. Thank you for your cooperation.

CLASS OF 2024 SENIOR SUNRISE

The time has finally come for the class of 2024 - senior year!

Seniors, please gather in the back of the student parking lot. Feel free to bring chairs, blankets, yard games and your breakfast and get ready to kick off your final year at SLP high school. All Seniors are Welcomed!

SCHOOL PSEO/LUNCH STUDY HALL RELEASE

PSEO Release & Study Centers

All students registered for PSEO courses should send their PSEO schedule to their assigned grade-level counselor. PSEO students who need to apply for PSEO Release time should complete this form and submit it to their counselor. Students approved for PSEO Release must have an assigned pass that they are able to present at all times while entering or exiting the building during the school day. Once the release form is approved, the pass will be assigned through the Student Support Time App. During release hours, PSEO students may not remain on the high school campus.

If a student is taking a PSEO course virtually and wishes to participate from the high school, they should NOT complete this form. Instead, they need to speak with their counselor about registering for a PSEO study hall here at the High School.

Study Hall Release

Students in grades 11 and 12 may request Study Hall Release time in hours 1 and/or 2, or 6 and/or 7. Students approved for Study Hall Release must have an assigned pass that they are able to present at all times while entering or exiting the building during the school day. Once the release form is approved, the pass will be assigned through the Student Support Time App.

SENIORS - Open Lunch

Seniors hoping to have an open lunch need to complete this form. This form needs to be approved and seniors need to have the appropriate lunch release sticker on their ID before beginning their release time. Seniors may use Door 1 only for exiting and entering the building during their open lunch time, and are expected to return to the building and be in their class on time following their lunch hour.

LUNCH/BREAKFAST

Beginning July 1, 2023, state legislation approved the Free School Meal for Kids Program. Each student will receive one free breakfast and lunch daily. Students that bring their own lunch will need to purchase a la carte items such as milk. Ala carte items include any additional items beyond the school provided breakfast/lunch. Purchase of a la carte items will require your student to maintain funds in their meal account.

School Nutrition does not accept cash or checks on the serving line for purchase of a la carte items. We are asking parents/guardians to deposit funds in the Family Meal Account. You will have access through your PowerSchool account to add funds for purchasing a la carte items.

PowerSchool Public Portal provides a link to each student’s Edutrak meal account where families can view student meal accounts and add funds online.

The School Nutrition Department cannot accept cash or checks, so online payment is the only way to add money to student meal accounts.

Even though one daily lunch and breakfast will be offered free to students through this new funding, completing the Application for Educational Benefits may qualify your family for other discounts such as:

  • Reduced district activity Fees
  • Reduced Testing Fees
  • Reduced Field Trips
  • Transportation
  • Reduced Internet Fees
  • School Funding

We encourage families to go to this link https://lobby.wordwareinc.com/ if they think they might qualify.

POWERSCHOOL/SCHOOLOGY

PowerSchool and Schoology are platforms that allow parents/guardians to view their student’s attendance, grades, class events and assignments online.

PowerSchool, the St. Louis Park student information system, is the primary source for attendance and grades for accuracy and most updated. You can sign-up for PowerSchool by contacting the High School main office at 952-928-6100.  You are also welcome to stop by the front office during the school day, where you will sign the PowerSchool Guardian Access Policy Agreement.

Schoology is the St. Louis Park digital classroom environment where course information, resources, information and assignments are posted regularly for students.

  • To access a previously created parent Schoology account, go HERE.
  • To create a new Schoology parent account (for new families that do not have a previous SLP Schoology parent account) go HERE.
