In celebration of Indigenous Peoples' Day 2024, we honor the vibrant cultures, histories, and contributions of Native communities who have shaped this land for generations. At SLPHS, students will engage in meaningful learning through their social studies classes, where they will explore the resilience, wisdom, and ongoing impact of Indigenous peoples. This day serves as an opportunity for reflection and deeper understanding of the past, as well as a call to elevate Indigenous voices and perspectives in our school and beyond, fostering a more inclusive and respectful future.
SLP Schools Land Acknowledgement
We are gathered on the land of the Dakota and Ojibwe peoples. I ask you to join me in acknowledging the Dakota and Ojibwe community, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations. St. Louis Park Public Schools also acknowledges that it was founded upon exclusions and erasures of many Indigenous Peoples, including those on whose land this school district is located. This acknowledgement demonstrates a commitment to dismantling the ongoing legacies of colonial power and the district’s desire to support the ongoing work of local Indigenous communities to thrive in our schools.

CONFERENCES IN-PERSON, FRIDAY, 10/11 | |
In Person Drop-Ins: On Friday, October 11th, there will be no school for students, and teachers will have drop-in availability in person from 8am-3pm, with lunch from 12:30-1pm. To make things more convenient for families, all teachers will be set up at tables in the field house. This will avoid the need to navigate the entire building to connect with multiple teachers. Since families may be waiting in line to connect with the same teacher, conferences will be 5 minutes each. Spanish and Somali interpreters will be available.
You will need:
-Your student's schedule printed or saved electronically.
-To check the part-time/absentee list (below) and, if desired, arrange alternative meetings with staff who will be absent tomorrow.

It’s More Than a Meal: Applications for Educational Benefits Supports Students and Schools
Applying for educational benefits is essential for families as it directly supports students and the school community. Although Governor Walz signed the Free School Meals for Kids bill, it is important for all families to complete the Application for Educational Benefits application each year to qualify for non-meal related benefits like bussing and discounts on fees for activities, clubs and tests. Submitted applications also help school districts qualify for education funds and discounts.
Applying for Educational Benefits can include free or discounted supports for:
- Class labs
- Activity and supplies
- Sports registration
- High school testing fees (Advanced Placement (AP), PSAT)
- Field trips
- College applications
- Open enrolled transportation
Learn more about how to apply or contact Jodie Woelffer, School Nutrition Assistant, at woelffer.jodie@slpschools.org or call 952-928-6146.
