Greetings!



It is hard to believe that we are coming to the close of another school year.  This time of year there is much to celebrate and be proud of.  As we send off another group of young adults into the world, I am left with a bittersweet feeling.  A feeling filled by both joy and sadness.  Joy of what is in store as our new group of SLP grads head off to lead in ways beyond my imagination and sadness that this is the last time we will share space together as a commUNITY.  What is left is a great deal of gratitude for the young people that have passed through these doors for a final time at St Louis Park High School.  Congrats, Seniors!  Live your legacy.

Congratulations to the Park synchronized swimming team on their 5th place finish at the State Championship!  The Orioles were on the podium for every division and Mae Turman was named All State!  Great job Park!

On day one, two field event athletes qualified for the State Meet. Henry Eaton finished second in the Shot Put with a throw of 49' 4.75". Sebastian Tangelson finished 4th in the triple jump, with an automatic qualifier mark of 44' 1".

Park had 13 student-athletes qualify for finals in individual events.

On day two, one relay and two individuals qualified for State. The girls 4x800m relay (Jersey Miller, Ruby Massie, Anna Healey, Hanna Wilsey) finished second, with a time of 9:54.16, to advance. Cordell Birden finished second in the 100m to advance with a time of 11.33 and Jakob Eenigenburg won a photo finish in the 400m in a time of 50.74.

The boys team finished 6th and the girls team finished 7th.  The State Championship will be held June 8-10 at St. Michael-Albertville HS.  Go Park!!

DECA Teams with JA to Teach 1st Grade at Peter Hobert

After preparing for the last month, on May 26, 11 amazing DECA students were able to make a connection between what they are learning in school and the real world with the Junior Achievement (JA) curriculum - Our Families. 

DECA students not only had the opportunity to enhance their leadership and personal development skills but also they were a part of a magnificent experience that helps make a difference in their community. The connections for elementary students and the high school DECA students practicing these skills do so much to help them to succeed in school and beyond - it’s incredible!

The last week of school we will be running a modified schedule to allow extra time for students to take finals. Below is what the schedule will look like for the last week of school. Monday and Tuesday will be running a regular schedule and Wednesday and Thursday will be a block schedule.

Receive free college coaching with College Possible!

College Possible is a program at St. Louis Park High School that provides 6+ years of free college coaching to support high school juniors and seniors through college graduation to achieve a goal of receiving a college degree. 

If you are a current Junior (Class of 2024), you can apply NOW to join College Possible for the fall at http://collegepossible.org/join. To be eligible, students need to have a 2.0 GPA or higher, meet family income requirements, have an interest in getting a bachelor’s degree, and be ready to commit to full participation in the program.

Location Change for Summer SLP School Board Meetings

While construction is happening at the high school over the summer, St. Louis Park Public Schools School Board meetings will take place at St. Louis Park City Hall in the Council Chambers. City Hall is located at 5005 Minnetonka Blvd, St Louis Park, MN 55416.

Summer School Board Meetings

Location: St. Louis Park City Hall Council Chambers

• Tuesday, June 13, 2023 (Study Session)
• Tuesday, June 27, 2023 (Open Forum, Regular Business Meeting)
• Tuesday, August 8, 2023 (Regular Business Meeting)

While we will be unable to livestream the board meetings as we typically do, recordings of the meetings can be found on the District's YouTube channel within three business days of the meeting. We also invite community members to subscribe to Board Briefs, the SLP school board newsletter which highlights key happenings of board members or view past editions in English, Spanish or Somali.

The School Board holds Open Forum at each Business Meeting, which occurs on the fourth Tuesday of every month. To participate in Open Forum, please complete this sign-up form by 3:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting at which you would like to address the School Board. If a month only has one meeting (December and August), no Open Forum will be held that month. You can contact the School Board at any time by emailing schoolboard@slpschools.org.

JOIN THE PEAC (Parent Engagement Advisory Committee)TEAM!

Get in on the action and be involved in PEAC.  We are especially looking for a treasurer.  Estimated time per week commitment in 23/24 school year:  15 mins on average with some weeks up to an hour and most weeks at zero.

In accordance with the Minnesota Immunization Law (Statute 121A.15), students entering 12th grade for the 2023-2024 school year are required to have documentation of immunizations received, or a legal exemption, for Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and meningococcal vaccines. Information about immunization requirements can be found here. 

If your student should not have immunizations for medical reasons or because of your conscientiously held beliefs, we must have legal proof of exemption. The legal exemption form is available on the MDH website.

After your student has completed the immunization requirements, send a copy of the immunization record, or legal exemption, to the High School Health Office. Records can be faxed to 952-928-6238. 

Central Clinic offers healthcare to students who live or go to school in St. Louis Park. Services are free and include immunizations for uninsured and MA/MNCARE.
