IMPORTANT DATES

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Greetings from SLPHS!

As we settle into our third week of school, there’s a palpable excitement in the air for Homecoming Week. Students are finding their stride, diving into classes and extracurriculars, and truly embracing what it means to be an Oriole. It’s a fantastic time to be part of this vibrant community!

We are also thrilled to announce the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating the completion of our new construction projects. This marks a major achievement for SLPHS and reinforces our dedication to providing a modern, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students and families. Following the ceremony, we invite families to join us for our first of two Family Engagement Nights. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers, explore the academic journey ahead, and strengthen our school community. I look forward to seeing you there!

As always, take care, be well, and GO PARK!

Principal

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

September 15 marked the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, SLPHS is proud to honor and celebrate the contributions and rich cultural history of Hispanic and Latinx communities. Events and activities throughout the month will provide students with opportunities to learn, engage, and celebrate together.

SLPHS RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

Join us at 5:00 pm for the SLPHS official ribbon cutting ceremony, September 26th.  This ceremony is to celebrate and showcase the finished construction at SLPHS.  This event will be followed by Family Engagement Night beginning at 5:30 pm. This event will take place on the cafeteria patio.  Parking is available in the bus lot west of the high school on 33rd street. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will move into the cafeteria space.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT NIGHT THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26

St. Louis Park High School would like to welcome families to join us for Family Engagement Night on September 26th, from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm.

During Family Engagement Night, families will follow their student’s bell schedule, so attending for the full 2 hours will allow for the best experience.

Families can meet each of their student’s teachers during a 10-15 minute block of time and go through all 7 periods. If a family has multiple students attending the HS, they can decide which schedule and classes to attend.

The purpose of Family Engagement Night is to:

  1. Connect: Establish a clear line of communication between teachers and families to enhance student success.
  2. Inform: Allow families to experience what their student’s school day is like and give them detailed information about their classes.
  3. Build Community: Foster a sense of community and partnership between the school and families.

Overall, St. Louis Park High School’s Family Engagement Night aims to equip families with the knowledge and tools they need to support their child's learning and development. Please reach out to the Assistant Principals with any questions: Alonzo Parks parks.alonzo@slpschools.org (Grades 10 and 12) and Evelyn Lashley lashley.evelyn@slpschools.org (Grades 9 and 11).

FALL CONFERENCES OCTOBER 7-11

Fall Conferences will take place the week of October 7th-October 11th. Each teacher will have availability to schedule a virtual conference in the evenings of Monday through Thursday. On Friday, October 11th, there will be no school for students, and teachers will have drop-in availability in person from 7:30 am-3:30 pm at school.

STUDENT LED VOTER REGISTRATION EVENT & MOCK ELECTIONS

At St. Louis Park High School (SLPHS) students will learn about eligibility for both voter registration and pre-voter registration at the student-led Youth Voter Registration event September 23-25 during lunch. In addition, the Social Studies Department will be conducting mock elections this fall to provide students with a hands-on learning experience about the democratic process. These initiatives aim to foster a deeper understanding of voting rights and responsibilities, empowering students to become informed and active participants in their communities.
