SCHOOLWIDE UPDATES

NEW METHOD FOR REPORTING STUDENT ABSENCES BEGINS MONDAY

Coming in December: New method for reporting student absences!

Starting Monday, December 9th, St. Louis Park High School will be updating its attendance procedure to make it more convenient for parents and guardians to excuse students. While the attendance line at 952-928-6045 will remain available, parents and guardians will be able to report student absences by emailing hsattendance@slpschools.org.

This change will replace the Google form, which will be deactivated on December 9th. Please ensure that emails come from a parent or guardian's email address listed in the student’s contacts in Powerschool. This update will streamline the attendance process and align with the attendance reporting methods used by our other schools in the district. We appreciate your cooperation in adopting this new system.

SENIOR PICTURES DEADLINE EXTENDED

Hello families! Here’s a quick yearbook update:

If you missed the November 20th senior photo deadline, don’t worry! You have a one-month extension. We have a final deadline of 12/20. After that date, we will use your student’s LifeTouch photo if they have one.

To submit a senior photo, buy a baby ad, or purchase a yearbook, go to https://hs.slpschools.org/students/echowan

Reach out to Kelsey Hanson (hanson.kelsey@slpschools.org) or Tony VanDenEide (vandeneide.anthony@slpschools.org) with questions.

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

This letter is to inform you that a case of chickenpox (varicella) has been reported in your child’s high school.

If your child develops a rash illness, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) encourages you to take them to their health care provider for laboratory testing to confirm chickenpox or other illnesses.

Chickenpox is an infection that causes a blister-like rash, itching, tiredness, and fever. Most children recover without any problems, though complications can occur. Individuals who are pregnant or who have a weak immune system are at higher risk of having serious disease and should contact their health care provider right away if exposed.

The Minnesota Department of Health recommends varicella vaccine as the best way to prevent or reduce symptoms of the disease. See information fact sheets below.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the high school health office at 952-928-6109, or the Minnesota Department of Health at 651-201-5414 or at Health.ChickenpoxInfo@state.mn.us.
