Chickenpox is an infection that causes a blister-like rash, itching, tiredness, and fever. Most children recover without any problems, though complications can occur. Individuals who are pregnant or who have a weak immune system are at higher risk of having serious disease and should contact their health care provider right away if exposed.
The Minnesota Department of Health recommends varicella vaccine as the best way to prevent or reduce symptoms of the disease. See information fact sheets below.
