ALL SLPHS Seniors are welcome to join whether you are receiving a diploma or not, come celebrate!

2021-22 Grading System & End of Semester Plans |

We just wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the grading system for the end of the school year.
If you have been here the last couple years, due to Covid, the grading system has been adjusted to help support students.
We are back to our more traditional grading system of A, B, C, D.
These grades will be factored in your G.P.A.
This WILL earn credit towards graduation.
If you do earn an F/below 60%, we will continue with a NC (no credit) grade.
The F will be listed as an NC = no credit.
This will NOT be factored into the GPA and will NOT earn credit toward graduation.
The option of a Pass ‘P’ grade will still be available.
If students prefer they Pass/P grade over the A, B, C, or D grade
They need to notify the classroom teacher by June 3rd.
Students still get credit for graduation
The Pass/P is not factored into the GPA
It’s important to think about post-secondary education with Pass/P grades on the transcript.
Pass/P grades will often be considered a C or D by colleges and universities.
Pass/P grades are less information for colleges and universities.
Pass/P grades can help take pressure off of the letter grade and allow for more energy towards the classwork.

Summer school is an opportunity for students to make up credits from failed classes. Summer School is June 13 through July 1Monday through Friday, at the High School. See your counselor or fill out the following form:

We are proud to announce that eight (8) Saint Louis Park High School/ISD 283 students were officially named Wallin Scholars!. Each scholar will receive up to $16,000 over four years, advising, and access to support. We recognize the years of effort, engagement, and excellence you demonstrated as a student and now as a scholar. Congratulations!

Congratulations Ultimate Frisbee |
|
Congratulations to the St. Louis Park Boys Ultimate Frisbee Team. For the first time in program history, they have been ranked nationally and invited to participate in the High School National Invite tournament in Richmond, Virginia, on June 10th and 11th. The team will be attending this tournament, so we wish them good luck!

Yearbook Distribution 2022 |

The Echowan staff will be distributing yearbooks during 5th period in the courtyard by the lunchroom beginning Tuesday, May 31 and until Friday, June 3.
If you’ve already purchased a book, your name is on our list. If you have not yet purchased a book and would still like to, books will be available in Mr. Nordmark’s classroom (B229) during 5th period.
Books are $75, cash or check. Please make checks out to Balfour.

Transportation Changes for 22/23 School Year |
|
As a part of districtwide budget reductions, St. Louis Park Public Schools is making several changes to transportation for the 2022-23 school year. Transportation is a vital part of the day for many of our students and families, but reductions in transportation and other non-classroom areas allow the district to reduce the impact of reductions on classrooms and programs. The changes in transportation will result in budget savings of $325,000.
As a result, beginning with the 2022-2023 school year all 9th through 12th grade students will need to opt-in (register) for transportation. Several metro area school districts are using this practice to ensure that transportation service is running as efficiently as possible.
The district will require that you complete the 2022-23 Transportation Opt-In Form if your address is eligible for transportation and you wish to have school bus transportation for your student in 2022-23. ***If this form is not completed by August 1, 2022, no bus transportation will be routed for your High School student for the fall of 2022-23.***
Important notes:
The district will review ridership and drop students who are not riding for 10 consecutive days or more. Do not request transportation unless your student will ride the bus.
The District will provide you the opportunity to add your student at the end of November and again at the end of March.

2022 D.C. Trip (9th Grade Families that are Registered) |

We will have our mandatory pre-trip in-person meeting on Thursday, June 2, at 7:00 P.M. in the Middle School Cafeteria. At least one adult per family must attend; traveling students are highly encouraged to attend. We will cover everything from packing to the itinerary and much more! LMC End of Year Deadlines |
|
Seniors: LMC books and fines of seniors are due in the Media Center Friday, May 20th. Textbooks should be returned to teachers as advised. Seniors should take care of obligations before picking up caps and gowns.
Senior Chromebook Drop Off: Chromebooks and chargers must be returned to the At-Large Lab (2nd floor) as soon as seniors are done using them May 24th - June 7th. The At-Large Lab is open every day from 1:00PM-4:00PM. A special, all-day collection will be held June 2nd in the At-Large Lab from 7:30AM-4:30PM. If you have any questions, please come to the LMC.
Grades 9-11: The last day to checkout books in the LMC for students in grades 9-11 is Friday, May 20th. LMC books and fines of students in grades 9-11 are due in the Media Center Friday, May 27th. Textbooks should be returned to teachers as advised.

Summer Chromebook Drop Off: If you need to return a Chromebook over the summer, you may drop it off at the Enrollment Center office 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Mondays - Thursdays. This office is located at the back of the high school; follow the signs (to the right) through Door 26.

Get a jump on college visits |

With the end of the school year coming up fast, now's the time to help your high school student plan for the next step by visiting colleges. Minnesota Private College Week, June 21-24, makes it easy to do just that.
High school students are invited to come to any of our 17 nonprofit colleges during the week. These free campus visits — beginning at 9:30 a.m., noon or 2:30 p.m. —include tours and information sessions. It's an easy, no-pressure way to begin exploring college options, whether your student is going to be a senior, junior, or sophomore in the fall.
Spend two hours at one college — or make time to visit several during a day or the week. Our colleges would love to see your student, and there's sure to be one that's agreat fit. (And yes, parents welcome to join their student as well!) Learn more and register.
