Greetings,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This month is intended to acknowledge the importance of mental health and wellness of children, families, and communities, while breaking the stigma often aligned to mental health issues.
The final weeks of school can be filled with stress or anxiety and can be overwhelming for both students and staff. I encourage you to create rituals and routines that support positive mental health and wellness.
This might include but is not limited to the following:
- Getting enough rest each evening.
- Decreasing screen time.
- Creating healthy eating habits.
- Prioritizing movement and exercise.
- Creating a support system or network of caring peers and/or adults.
- Practicing meditation, yoga, or mindfulness.
- Dedicating time to do activities that bring you joy.
For more resources you can always reach out to our student support team of counselors, social workers, and therapists. Let’s break the stigma around mental health issues.

2021-22 Grading System & End of Semester Plans |
|
We just wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the grading system for the end of the school year.
If you have been here the last couple years, due to Covid, the grading system has been adjusted to help support students.
We are back to our more traditional grading system of A, B, C, D.
These grades will be factored in your G.P.A.
This WILL earn credit towards graduation.
If you do earn an F/below 60%, we will continue with a NC (no credit) grade.
The F will be listed as an NC = no credit.
This will NOT be factored into the GPA and will NOT earn credit toward graduation.
The option of a Pass ‘P’ grade will still be available.
If students prefer they Pass/P grade over the A, B, C, or D grade
They need to notify the classroom teacher by June 3rd.
Students still get credit for graduation
The Pass/P is not factored into the GPA
It’s important to think about post-secondary education with Pass/P grades on the transcript.
Pass/P grades will often be considered a C or D by colleges and universities.
Pass/P grades are less information for colleges and universities.
Pass/P grades can help take pressure off of the letter grade and allow for more energy towards the classwork.

May 25 -Asynchronous Day Information |
|
On May 25th, St. Louis Park High School will implement an asynchronous day for all students. This day will be used to provide additional support for students as we close out the school year. The day is designed to provide students the opportunity to get additional support to end the year successfully.
Students will be able to schedule time with their assigned teacher using the Student Support Time app. Students can choose to come in-person or get support virtually. Coursework will be accessible on Schoology and students are expected to complete work asynchronously if students do not attend in-person learning. The Orioles’ Nest will also be available for students that need support with credit recovery coursework. Transportation will be limited to activity routes and must be requested through the JotForm and Student Support Time app. A bag lunch will be provided to all students that choose to attend in-person.
Attendance will be taken for Park Connections, and will be based on participation in the Park Connections activity. Check in through Schoology for Park Connections to be marked present by 12pm.

Transportation Changes for 22/23 School Year |
|
As a part of districtwide budget reductions, St. Louis Park Public Schools will be making several changes to student transportation for the 2022-23 school year. Transportation is a vital part of the day for many of our students and families. Reductions in transportation and other non-classroom areas will allow the district to reduce the impact of reductions on classrooms and programs. The transportation changes will result in budget savings of $325,000.
In the coming days, the district will begin to communicate with families who are impacted by these transportation changes. A summary of the changes is included below:
- Expanded no bus zones for students residing in St. Louis Park, including the establishment of a no bus zone for Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School.
- Condensed bus stops for secondary students.
- Expanded no bus zones for students who open enroll from Minneapolis.
- New elementary school boundaries for Minneapolis students.
- High school students and families will be asked to opt-in for transportation.

On Wednesday, May 18th, 109 graduating seniors were honored with over $150 thousand dollars in scholarships.

Congratulations to the St Louis Park Esports program for qualifying 5 teams for the MNVL State Finals! Now over 50 schools in Minnesota have esports programs, and SLP is still one of the top performing schools in the entire league. Only one other school is sending more players to state than us!

LMC End of Year Deadlines |
|
Seniors: LMC books and fines of seniors are due in the Media Center Friday, May 20th. Textbooks should be returned to teachers as advised.
Senior Chromebook Drop Off: Chromebooks and chargers must be returned to the At-Large Lab (2nd floor) as soon as seniors are done using them May 25th - June 7th. Special collections will be held May 24th-25th (cap and gown distribution), June 3rd (last day) and June 7th (graduation rehearsal).
Grades 9-11: The last day to checkout books in the LMC for students in grades 9-11 is Friday, May 20th. LMC books and fines of students in grades 9-11 are due in the Media Center Friday, May 27th. Textbooks should be returned to teachers as advised.

Summer Chromebook Drop Off: If you need to return a Chromebook over the summer, you may drop it off at the Enrollment Center office 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Mondays - Thursdays. This office is located at the back of the high school; follow the signs (to the right) through Door 26.

Dunwoody Food Truck Event |
|
Dunwoody College of Technology is hosting a Food Truck Takeover at our Tuesday, May 10, Open
House, from 3-5 p.m. This will be a great way for high school students to experience what a technical college has to offer before they head off into summer.
The event will include FREE food, prize drawings, campus tours, and hands-on demos.
The open house will include free food from a few of the best food trucks in Minneapolis, along with a chance to win several prizes including a Kodak Luma 150 pocket projector and a GoPro.
There is no cost to attend, but students should RSVP in advance. The event will take place at Dunwoody College of Technology, 818 Dunwoody Blvd., Minneapolis.

12th Grade Vaccination Requirements |
|
Minnesota Immunization Law (Statute 121A.15), requires that all students get vaccinated against certain diseases or have a legal exemption on file to enroll in school. Students entering 12th grade for the 2022-2023 school year need to have documentation, or legal exemption, for the booster dose of meningococcal vaccine. The legal exemption form is available on the MDH website. Most children received the initial dose of this vaccine when they entered 7th grade. Information about immunization requirements can be found here.
After your student has completed the immunization requirements, send a copy of the immunization record, or legal exemption, to the High School Health Office.
Records can be faxed to 952-928-6113.
Central Clinic offers healthcare to students who live or go to school in St. Louis Park. Services are free and include immunizations.

Hours: 1-4:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, during the school year. Hours are limited in the
summer months.
