Greetings!
As a basketball fan, it has been a whirlwind of emotion watching both success, struggle and failure as the Minnesota Timberwolves try to win the first series of the playoffs. Sometimes we need to struggle to succeed, to learn, and to grow. Last night the team worked collectively with each player contributing to get the WIN. Teamwork is about supporting each other and building each other up, even in times of adversity, so that when you win, we all win. When we work together, we can’t be defeated. This is also true in relation to community. We do better together and everyone comes home with a W. Let’s bring home the W this week as an SLP community.

Hello St. Louis Park Staff, Students and Families,
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the news that I will be departing St Louis Park High School as Assistant Principal. I have accepted a new position in Robbinsdale School District. This is a very bitter sweet moment for me because of all the accomplishments, gains, and obstacles we have overcome! We have built solid relationships with each other and always strived to make decisions based on what is best for students.
I am very proud of our school, our students, our teachers, and our staff! We have made a commitment to racially equitable learning that energizes and enhances the spirit of our community and I think we have built a solid foundation for this to happen.
I want to say migwetch (thank you) to all of you. It has been a pleasure to serve this community. I have met so many new friends. Gigawabamin (Until we meet again) as I begin a new journey in life, I sincerely wish you all the success at St. Louis Park High School. GO PARK!

Litter & Garbage in our Community |

There has been a lot of litter and garbage left on the grounds of SLPHS. This blows into the yards of neighboring homes and residences. To demonstrate Park PRIDE, please do your part in keeping outdoor and indoor spaces clean by disposing of your garbage in an appropriate garbage receptacle. |

St. Louis Park High School students are expected to respect our neighbors and not litter, loiter, smoke, trespass, or act inappropriately on or near their property. This includes being safe and responsible while driving on and off campus. Please do your part in respecting on and off-campus community spaces. |

THANK YOU to all who contributed to conference meals last week! You made a huge difference in a long week for Staff!
We have one more ask as we celebrate our dedicated Staff Members:
May 2 - 6 is Staff Appreciation Week. PEAC has been asked to lead a lunch on Wednesday and provide gift bags on Friday for all 155 dedicated Staff members - teachers, cooks, janitors, front office, etc. Our Principal Team is working on a daily event to show Staff how much they are valued.
The ask: Due to your generosity, we have $821 remaining from past asks but need about $700 more + a few items on the SUG below to do the following:
Provide sandwiches from Jersey Mike’s who have offered us a 25% discount and free bounce-back coupons we’ll put in the gift bag. SUG below for sides and beverages.
Create “beer” themed gift bags (because it’s been a year!!) that include a fun bottle opener key ring, mini cans of root beer, snacks and the Jersey Mike’s coupon.
We know many of you have already contributed so please only do so again if you want to/can afford it. We hate making another ask and are SO appreciative of this wonderful and supportive parent community!) Thank you for your continued generosity as you are able!

SENIOR PARTY INFO!! “WE LOVE OUR SENIORS” SIGNS ORDER FORM BELOW!!
SLP Senior Graduation Party is almost here!
Each year parents and the community come together to throw a graduation celebration for our graduating seniors. The Senior Party immediately follows the graduation ceremony and is an opportunity for all the Seniors to celebrate their accomplishments together on their big night. The party is organized by parent volunteers and the goal is to bring the whole class together and make it FREE for all seniors.
The new graduates will celebrate at Park Tavern from 9 - 12:30 pm with food, drinks, bowling, trivia, a DJ, and, of course, each other!
To make this party FREE for all seniors our goal is to raise at least $10,000, and we need your help.

CALIFORNIA BAND TOUR
About 45 Park band students and parents traveled to Southern California over spring break. They performed concerts in Los Angeles and San Diego in both public places as well as at a high school. One concert was evaluated by Dr. Travis Cross, the Director of Bands at UCLA. The musical highlight was an exchange concert with Mayfair HS Band in Los Angeles because Mayfield played extremely well and were incredibly gracious hosts. Students enjoyed seeing the San Diego skyline and USS Midway on a catamaran ride. Other sightseeing highlights included the world-famous San Diego Zoo, a Hollywood tour, Universal Studios, and both sea lion and seal colonies in La Jolla. Though the original plan before the Omicron variant was to tour Ireland, this trip was amazing and marked the first band tour since 2018.

SOLO/ENSEMBLE CONTEST
SLPHS Bands is proud to announce that the 20 students who competed at Region 6AA MSHSL Solo/Ensemble contest had the best results in SLPHS Band history! This is a very tough region to compete in since some of the best-funded, strongest, and largest programs in the state join us. After working on their music with their band teacher, private teachers, and on their own for the past four months, fully 65% of competitors earned the top (Superior) ranking. Another 30% earned second to top (Excellent) rankings. These scores are especially noteworthy because the program is emerging from 9-18 months of students having to learn online on their own.

Saint Louis Park High School Theatre Presents Mutually Assured Destruction: 10 Plays About Brothers and Sisters April 29 – May 1
Spanning ten decades, Don Zolidis’ Mutually Assured Destruction highlights the tensions and touchstones of sibling relationships. Each vignette features brothers and sisters tackling the issues of their era (and at times, each other) as family conflicts build to a humorous breaking point.
Performances of Mutually Assured Destruction are April 29 and 30 at 7:00 pm and May 1 at 2:00 pm. All performances will be held in the High School auditorium, located along the West 33rd Street entrance. Tickets: free with SLPHS student ID, $5 for all other students and senior citizens, and $7 for adults. Purchase advance tickets online at https://slpmad.eventbrite.com or at the box office 30 minutes prior to the performance. Though not required, we strongly encourage patrons to wear masks while in the building.

Attention all 12th graders! Your last senior meeting is on Wednesday, May 4 at 10:05-10:35. All graduation information will be presented in this meeting. You will not want to miss this information.
