Greetings!
We have finally had our first snowfall...winter has arrived. Each year around this time, I begin to reflect on the things and people that bring me joy and how I can express gratitude. The last 20 months have been the most difficult for our community and I am grateful for our dedicated teachers, students, staff, and families. There are so many that have helped me through these challenges. How will you express and show gratitude to those that have made a positive impact on your continued growth?

PEAC has sponsored conference week gift bags for all staff. As a reminder, if you are a parent or guardian, you are a part of PEAC (Parent Engagement Advisory Committee)
Thanks to your generosity at the end of summer when we collected for a week one Staff lunch, we were able to use some excess funds to provide each staff member with a small thank you gift.

The best gift is the gratitude, collaboration and support of our parent community. In this season of gratitude, staff would love to hear from you. Ask your student who makes a difference in their lives and send that teacher or staff member (front office, custodians, nutrition, health office, etc.) a quick email to show your support. Afterschool Building Access for Students |
|
Students that participate in after school activities, must report to their assigned area no later than 3:30 pm. Students that are not a part of an organized after school activity must exit the building no later than 3:30 pm.
NOTE: students not a part of an organized activity will be asked to leave. All students needing access to after school activities are expected to use door 15 near the athletic office.

Staff have seen a significant increase in student tardiness and absences. This is a reminder that all students are expected to be in class on time, every period, every day in order to maximize instructional time. Families will be notified if students are displaying chronic tardiness and/or absenteeism. |

Excused Absences & Tardies During Assigned Class Time |
|
Students that are assigned to a course and/or study hall are expected to report on time and remain for the entire period. Students that come to class significantly late to class, skip class, or leave before the period without permission will be marked absent unexcused. Attendance will not be changed unless there is a lawful excused absence (please reference the student handbook).
NOTE: Students that have an open hour must exit the building and leave campus. Students that are assigned PSEO or similar programming are asked to report to their assigned area of the building (Learning Lab).

Spanish Club: ¡Día de los Muertos!
On October 28th, more than twenty-five students joined several Spanish teachers and our latinx student liaison, Carmen Rudin, to learn more about how the Día de los Muertos is celebrated in Latin America. Students learned about the indigenous and Christian origins of the holiday, watched a short video about the “altar de la ofrenda,” and enjoyed typical music of the holiday. Students then made decorations of “papel picado,” colored images of “calaveras,” and assembled a mini-altar. The afternoon wrapped up with dancing and the opportunity to taste “pan de muerto,” a traditional bread made for the holiday!

Girls United is a non-profit organization and club led at St. Louis Park and all over the wider area of Minnesota focused on empowering the next generation of girls.

St. Louis Park High School Theatre Presents
Anne of Green Gables: A New Musical November 12-15 and 19-21
Based on L.M. Montgomery’s beloved book series, the Theatreworks USA musical adaptation follows Anne Shirley, an independent and inquisitive orphan girl. Anne arrives in Avonlea by mistake: the aging Cuthbert siblings intend to adopt a boy to help them manage the farm. Anne’s irresistible charisma soon wins over the Cuthberts and the entire community in this charming tale of finding love, family, and home.
Performances are November 12, 13, 19, and 20 at 7:00 pm, November 14 and 21 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students and senior citizens, and free with student ID for all SLPHS students. Tickets can be purchased in person 30 minutes before each performance or online in advance at https://slphsanneofgreengables.eventbrite.com. Please note, all attendees must wear masks while in the building.

DECCA Sports Equipment/School Supplies Drive |

Have sports equipment or school supplies that you don't need anymore?
Donate them to us today!
DECA the class is hosting a sports equipment and school supplies drive, where we will donate collected goods to those in need. Collections can be dropped off in room B224 or in the main office. We will distribute the collected items on Saturday, November 20th, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, in the High School Cafeteria.
