Greetings!

February 14th is reminiscent of the value of human connections.  Relationships and human connections are the foundation of a strong learning community.  Community paired with shared experience to create a culture that lifts each other up and carries each other through trials and triumphs.  Community is a culmination of moments that tells the story of who we are and who we strive to be.  I wish you a wonderful week.

Celebrating NAAPID on Feb. 14
St. Louis Park Public Schools will join school districts across the country on Monday, February 14 to celebrate National African American Parent Involvement Day (NAAPID). Due to COVID and in place of any in-person events at our schools, a video featuring the voices of St. Louis Park students will be released on the District's YouTube channel on Feb. 14.
School Board Listening Session
The St. Louis Park Public Schools School Board will host a listening session from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15 in the Lenox Community Center Craft Room. 

All stakeholders are invited to attend St. Louis Park School Board Listening Sessions to ask questions and have a conversation with school board members. Up to three school board members will attend to listen to stakeholders. It is not an official meeting and no official action will be taken. Please be aware that the school board members will end the listening session 30 minutes after the posted start time if there are no stakeholders in attendance.

DECA Students Advance to State

All 2021-22 DECA members that competed in the first-round of competition qualified and advanced to the State level Competition. These amazing young leaders will participate with other top finalists March 6-8 in downtown Minneapolis. Congratulations to Adam Gips, Andre Barajas, Sam Zubia Flores, Tashia Johannes and Ana Whorton!

There are a few virtual options available February 25-March 4. Or come see the best in the state in person at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Minneapolis March 6-8.
Girls Nordic Ski
SLP girls Nordic won the Section 6 meet on 2/10. It was a very close meet with both Hopkins and Wayzata tying for second place one point behind Park. Our top three skiers were in 3rd, 5th, and 7th place after the morning classic race. Addy Chenvert and Rachel Katzovitz placed third in the sprint relay in the middle of the day, scoring some important team points. The morning's classic skiers came back in the afternoon for the skate pursuit. At the end of the day points were scored by Hanna Wilsey finishing in 4th, Victoria Schmelzle in 5th and Jersey Miller in 6th. We also saw solid performances from Ayelel Meyen in 13th and Kaylee Crump in 18th. Modesty Manion and Maren Wilsey round out the team as alternate skiers. 

The team will next compete at the State Meet at Giant's Ridge on 2/16 and 2/17.
Boys Swimming
Congratulations to the Park boys swimming team and Head Coach Amanada Forsberg on winning the 2022-23 Metro West Conference Championship. 
Writing Lab Hours
The Writing Lab is open to students during and after school!
 
The Writing Lab is looking to empower students’ writing through peer-to-peer learning. Students are able to come get writing help during their study halls (Periods 1-4 and 6-7) or after school Tuesday-Thursday. Both student coaches and staff are available to help students with any of their writing. If you’re interested, come find us in the Learning Lab in A202!
