Dear SLP Families,
What a wonderful week it has been. Not only is the weather amazing, but we have students back in the building and it's awesome! My message this week is simply this: we love your kids and we are thrilled to see them! We are continuing to look closely at the Covid numbers and are making plans to determine when it will be safe enough to bring back all of our students, except for Cohort C, who have made the decision to remain in distance learning throughout the year. Enjoy the following pictures in my efforts to help all our SLP families catch a glimpse of what it looks like and feels like to be a student who attends school during a pandemic.

2: Schedule Change NEXT WEEK
|
|
Next week, Wednesday, March 3, is not a Student Feedback Day. It is a regular school day with Cohort B students at school on both Wednesday and Thursday. There is no school for students on Friday because all staff members will be in professional development training with Dr. Yvette Jackson facilitating. |

4: Congratulations District Media Specialists
|
|
Congratulations to our district Library Media Specialists. They were awarded with a $1500 grant from the Park Public Schools and Community Foundation to purchase a shared collection of award-winning ebooks. The money will allow them to buy over 70 titles that will serve all six schools in the district. They are all working on building our digital library collections with an eye on equity and diversity in the selections.for a shared collection of award-winning ebooks.

SLP HAS A THIRD PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR
Congratulations to Jack Fredrickson, Grade 12, who has also been named as a 2021 Presidential Scholar, giving SLP a total of three.

7: 2021 Athena Award Recipient
|
|
Congratulations to Erin Brousseau on being named St. Louis Park High School's 2021 Athena Award recipient. Erin has earned 13 varsity letters participating in hockey, cross country, track & field and lacrosse. In the fall Erin will be attending Syracuse University and playing women's hockey.

As a part of the process to hear stakeholder perspectives, Superintendent Osei will be hosting Listening Sessions over the course of this school year for students, parents/guardians, and staff to better understand the impact of the implementation of the District's educational delivery models.

9: Congratulations Nordic Ski Teams
|
|
Congratulations to the St. Louis Park High School girls nordic ski team on winning the Metro West Conference championship! Park 11th grader Victoria Schmelzle was the overall top skier at the championship and the boys nordic team finished second at the championship. Great job Orioles!

Proceeds will support the St. Louis Park TreeHouse. TreeHouse has provided time-tested programs, a safe environment, and mentoring so teens can build healthy relationships, learn coping skills to navigate life’s obstacles, discover their personal value, and look to the future with hope. There is no cost to join programs, free transportation, and meal provided. 13: Virtual College Exploration

Registration is Open!
March 9-11, 2021
Registration is now open for our Virtual College Exploration! Sign-up to virtually connect with colleges and universities from around the country for free.
During the Virtual College Exploration, students, families and counselors will have the chance to hear from many different colleges. You can choose which colleges you want to hear from by registering for their sessions. You can ask questions of the college representatives throughout the presentations too!
The program will also include college knowledge sessions on topics such as finding a college that fits, paying for college, and writing a college essay presented by college admission counselors.

Registration will be open on Monday, February 8th for spring sports. ALPHA offers the following spring sports:
Starting on 3/15 - Synchronized Swimming
Starting on 3/22 - Baseball
Starting on 3/29 - Boys Tennis, Girls Softball, Boys & Girls Golf, Boys & Girls Track and Field
Starting on 4/5 - Boys & Girls Lacrosse

Students in grades 9, 10 and 11 have started the registration process for next year in their Connections classes. See their Connections folder in Schoology for short videos they have been watching or go to www.slpschools.org/hsreigstration for more information. Students should be inputting their course requests now and the ‘Class Registration’ button will remain open through next Friday, March 5th.
