PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Greetings SLPHS Community!


We are thrilled to share some exciting news about our school's academic achievements over the past year. Here are some key highlights from our school year 22/23 MCA testing data:


Mathematics:

  • Participation in math increased by an impressive 12.9%.
  • Math proficiency witnessed a 2% increase, moving from 44% to 46%.


Reading:

  • Reading participation increased by an outstanding 23.4%.
  • Reading proficiency experienced a remarkable 12% increase, reaching a commendable 57% from the previous 45%.


SLP HS MCA Proficiency:

  • In Mathematics, our high school surpassed the state’s proficiency level by an impressive 10%.
  • In Reading, SLP HS, shone a proficiency level 5% higher than the state average.



These accomplishments reflect the dedication and collaborative efforts of our students, teachers, and the entire school community. As we celebrate our progress, we remain committed to fostering an environment that encourages continuous learning and growth. As we head into the spring 2024 testing season, we want to encourage students to participate in the upcoming MCA tests. Increases in participation provide accurate data to inform our instructional practice.

SPRING CONFERENCES


Spring Conferences are scheduled for the week of March 11th-15th. Each teacher will have availability for virtual conferences across the evenings of Monday, March 11th to Thursday, March 14th. On Friday, March 15th all students will be engaged in digital learning from home, and teachers will have in-person and virtual availability from 7:30am-3:30pm. 


Conference sign-ups will open on Tuesday, March 5th. An email will be sent out with the link to sign-up for conferences for each of your students’ teachers.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT DAY

Friday, April 19th will be our spring Family Engagement Day. We are welcoming families into the SLPHS Activity Center to engage with our various departments in activities that demonstrate what students are learning.  More detailed information will be forthcoming.


Planning for the school year 24-25 Family Engagement Event(s) are underway.  Based on family feedback, SLPHS will be providing evening opportunities.  GO PARK!

2024 HS Summer Credit Recovery


Credit Recovery provides an opportunity to make up missed high school credits in a condensed, yet flexible and alternative way for St. Louis Park students. 


Dates: June 10 - June 28, 2024 (*No school June 19th)


Times: 8:30 am - 11:30 pm and 12:00 - 3:00 pm (lunch provided) M - F

SLPHS DIGITAL CITIZEN ACADEMY

Each month through the 6425 and Schoology, lessons will be published at the beginning of the month. You can find all the lessons on the SLPHS Student Digital Learning Support under the SLPHS academy.


Each lesson will include the standards from the ISTE Standards and well as the MN ELA Standards


This week’s lesson for the SLPHS Digital Citizen Academy lesson Writing a Formal Email, including the parts of an email and how to clearly convey your ideas.

This is the second lesson in the SLPHS Digital Citizen Academy. The purpose of these lessons are to expose students to different aspects of being a digital citizen with self paced lessons that can be facilitated by students, families, and teachers.

SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH UPDATE


  • Finalist interviews on March 13: Finalist interviews will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Central Community Center in Room 21. The interviews and deliberations are open to the public, live-streamed, and posted on Youtube for 30 days. We will post a link online to submit online community feedback on finalists prior to the interviews. The lone candidate will be announced the evening of March 13.



  • STORiole Pop-up shop (SLP merchandise) at March 2 and 13 meetings: The DECA STORiole is a student-run entrepreneurship that sells SLP clothing and accessories. There will be a variety of items for purchase. Cash, cards and tapless payments are accepted, or can be purchased online at The DECA STORiole. Clothing is produced by students or is purchased through minority or women-owned vendors.

Fun Fact:There will be roughly 5000 square feet of brick installed at the new SLP Data Center. That is equivalent to the size of the SLP High School Main Gym Basketball Court!
