Spring Dogwoods on the Water
Flowering Dogwoods line the shores of Lake of the Ozarks.

Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. - An annual rite of spring in the Ozarks, the Dogwood Festival in Camdenton celebrates the beauty of the season April 19-21.

In addition to Flowering Dogwoods, redbuds also populate the woodlands around the Lake of the Ozarks making for beautiful spring scenery.
Locals and visitors alike eagerly await the bounteous blooms of the surrounding forests which are awash in the vivid whites of the Flowering Dogwood, Missouri's state tree, and the bright magenta of the rosebuds that flourish in the Ozark hills.

The longest running springtime event in the Lake of the Ozarks area, this year marks the 68th anniversary of this favorite festival, which takes place during the peak season of the blossoming trees and flowers.

Between 8,000 and 10,000 people attend the Dogwood Festival every year.
According to Trish Creach, executive director of the Camdenton Chamber of Commerce, the Dogwood Festival brings in between 8,000 to 10,000 people from around the Midwest to enjoy the colorful scenery and the different activities and events that take place over the weekend.

"The Dogwood Festival is a Lake tradition that brings together families and communities to enjoy one of the harbingers of spring - the beautiful blooming dogwood trees," Creach says.
