This Wednesday
FEBRUARY 14:
Ash Wednesday
- the beginning of Lent
Day of Fasting & Abstinence
MASSES
All Masses will be in the rectory chapel
The time has now come in the Church year for the solemn observance of the great central act of history, the redemption of the human race by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In the Roman Rite, the beginning of the forty days of penance is marked with the austere symbol of ashes which is used in this liturgy. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us.
As the priest applies the ashes to a person's forehead, he speaks the words: "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
Alternatively, the priest may speak the words, "Repent and believe in the Gospel."
Regulations for Fasting & Abstinence:
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence.
For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards (From the USCCB website)

More on World Marriage Day
World Marriage Day is on the second Sunday of February, and National Marriage Week USA (February 7 – 14) are observed annually in dioceses and parishes throughout our country. this is an opportunity to focus on building a culture of life and love that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family.
The theme for World Marriage Day and National Marriage Week 2024 is "Love Beyond Words" - the permanent, faithful and fruitful love in a sacramental marriage is truly beyond words.
It indicates the personal self-gift of each spouse, one to the other. These concepts point to Christ who gives Himself under the appearance of bread and wine—as real flesh and blood.

The Year of Parish Revival began on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, June 11, 2023 . As we have entered this new season of grace, Bishop Cozzens has composed a beautiful prayer for the Revival and the Church. We pray in particular for our beloved St Antoninus Church....
Prayer for the Eucharistic Revival of the Church
Lord Jesus Christ, you give us your flesh and blood for the life of the world, and you desire that all people come to the Supper of the Sacrifice of the Lamb.
Renew in your Church the truth, beauty, and goodness contained in the Most Blessed Eucharist.
Jesus living in the Eucharist, come and live in me.
Jesus healing in the Eucharist, come and heal me.
Jesus sacrificing yourself in the Eucharist, come and suffer in me.
Jesus rising in the Eucharist, come and rise to new life in me.
Jesus loving in the Eucharist, come and love in me.
Lord Jesus Christ, through the paschal mystery of your death and resurrection made present in every Holy Mass, pour out your healing love on your Church and on our world.
Grant that as we lift you up during this time of Eucharistic Revival, your Holy Spirit may draw all people to join us at this Banquet of Life. You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Eucharist, Pray for us.

VIDEO LESSONS
for the heart & mind

We are in the midst of National Marriage Week. Watch these two inspirational video presentations below on what a Catholic Marriage really is and how to use this as your ticket to heaven!
Bishop Barron : " On Marriage and Relationships."
Fr Joseph's note:
Love that will last has to also involve a common transcendent purpose, mission, reality beyond the couple themselves which unites them and lifts them beyond themselves and beyond their relationship. Bishop’s Barron’s brief video on marriage helps explain the necessity of this common transcendent longing, love & mission or purpose, and shows why only when God Himself is that common love and purpose and mission can marriage be lifted from simply being a shared egotism which can never stand the test of time, to become an enduring and extravagantly generous relationship which reflects the goodness of the One who created us and created marriage.}

Catholic Marriage (Our Rule Of Life)
Catholic Speakers Ken and Janelle Yasinski, share one step they took to and create a greater atmosphere of peace within their home. Listen to how their RULE OF LIFE brought a much needed structure to the family life.
What is a rule of life?
Within religious communities of sisters or priests, they have a certain way of living that is set out by the religious order. The structure of living, or rule of life, gives structure to the religious life. There are certain times for prayer, work, cleaning, study and recreation. This rule of life is ordered specifically to the sanctification of the members of the religious community.
The Catholic family can also be ordered in a similar way. This is what the Yasinski’s refer to as their “Rule of Life.” Is it a daily schedule for the whole family to follow. It clearly lays out, when is study, play, cleaning, eating, household shores, family recreation time, prayer time ect. This routine is not random. Like within a religious order, this rule is specifically order to the good of each member of the family. It is created for the sanctification of each person within the family, and ordered for the good of the marriage relationship. It has eternity as its goal, and seeks to fulfil the will of God in marriage and family life.
Having a healthy Catholic marriage takes some hard work. Creating a rule of life for the family has been a huge benefit for the Yasinski’s. The biggest change within the home, has been a greater sense of peace.
