Dear Neighbors,

As we end the year, I’m reflecting on the compassion and unity that make the 6th Ward such a special place. We saw so many of our own step up during an unprecedented time— providing food, resources, and coat drives to ensure our neighbors were cared for. That generosity is who we are. My office also had the honor of hosting our 600 Chicken and Sides Giveaway, where hundreds of families received support and dozens of volunteers worked shoulder to shoulder. It was a powerful reminder that, even in uncertain times, this community chooses to show up for one another. You made this season brighter for so many.

I’m excited to share that we are now focused on moving our 6th Ward Office downstairs into its final, permanent space. This will give us a true home base for serving residents, improving access to resources, and strengthening relationships across every neighborhood. Our efforts remain centered on ensuring our seniors are fed, our youth are safe, and that we continue expanding resources, events, and opportunities to help the 6th Ward bloom. I look forward to welcoming you into a space that reflects the community we are building together.

As budget season continues, I’m advocating every day for the needs you’ve shared with me: relief for families experiencing food insecurity, investments in essential services, and support for an economy that works for all of us. A key part of this work is creating safe, supportive paths for our young people through engaging programs, violence-prevention initiatives, mentorship, and community spaces where they can grow and thrive. Their safety and success remain at the foundation of our future.

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re finishing the year strong and stepping into the new one with clear intentions of only going up. We’re planning more programs, expanding opportunities for engagement, and tightening our operations to better serve you. Serving as your Alderman remains one of the greatest honors of my life, and I’m grateful for the trust you place in me as we continue moving forward, stronger together.

Thank you to every neighbor who came out and shared your ideas, concerns, and hopes during the 6th Ward community meeting. Your tips and suggestions on what you want to see in our community are invaluable and help guide our work every day.

We also provided important updates on Streets and Sanitation—from service requests to improvements already underway—and walked through what residents can expect in the coming weeks.

As we enter budget season, we talked openly about how our office is tightening operations to better serve you, increase transparency, and make sure resources are reaching the people who need them most.

I’m grateful for your partnership and your willingness to stay engaged. Together, we’re building a stronger, safer, and more connected 6th Ward.

300 Hot Meal Giveaway

On November 19th, our team delivered 300 hot, freshly prepared meals to senior buildings across the ward. This effort ensured our older adults received a warm, nutritious meal and a reminder that their community cares deeply about them. We’re grateful to our partners and volunteers who helped make this possible and to the seniors who welcomed us with smiles, stories, and gratitude. Serving our elders is always an honor, and we look forward to continuing this work throughout the season.

Mather is offering FREE monthly Market Baskets for adults 55+, including fresh produce, protein, and grains. This is a huge win for our older adults in Chatham and across the 6th Ward.

I Am That Woman – Wellness Weekend | December 12–14, 2025



Are you stepping into a new chapter, craving more peace, purpose, and alignment? The I Am That Woman Wellness Weekend is a transformational three-day experience—available in Chicago and virtually—designed to help women reset, restore, and reclaim every part of their lives.

Applications Now Open: Exelon STEM Academies

Two exciting, FREE summer opportunities are now open for high school students in our community:

• The 9th Annual Exelon STEM Academy for young women
• The 3rd Annual Boys to STEM Academy for young men

These week-long programs are open to current 10th and 11th graders (Classes of 2027 & 2028) who live in Northern Illinois within the ComEd service area.

Students will:

• Participate in hands-on STEM activities and field trips
• Meet STEM and energy industry leaders
• Work with peers on real-world energy projects
• Compete in an energy challenge for prizes

Chicago Program Dates:

June 21–26, 2026 at DePaul University.

Become an Election Judge for the March 17th Primary Election

Chicago is seeking dedicated residents to serve as Election Judges for the upcoming March 17th Primary. Democracy starts with each of us, and this is a meaningful way to play a direct role in ensuring fair, accessible elections for all.

Who can apply?

• U.S. citizens who are registered voters in Cook County
• High school juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Bilingual residents—especially those who speak Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Polish, Korean, or Tagalog—are strongly encouraged to apply to help support our diverse communities

Compensation: Earn up to $230 for your service.
