Dear 6th Ward Neighbors,



Really quick, I want to give you a heads up that the ward meeting originally scheduled for March 7th has been rescheduled to March 16th as I will be attending the funeral services for Reverend Jesse Jackson. Please be sure to share this update with your neighbors so everyone can stay informed and involved.

As we move further into March, it also gives us a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made together as a community and the work that continues across the 6th Ward.

February was a busy and impactful month. We kicked off Black History Month with the DuSable Day celebration, gathered in fellowship at the Hearts & Harmony Luncheon at The Cov, hosted an energized and community-driven zoning meeting, and paused to honor the life and legacy of a true community giant.

Throughout the month, we continued advancing important work across the ward— meeting with local business owners, reviewing investments allocated to our neighborhoods, and discussing strategies to keep our streets clean and safe. Economic progress remains a priority, and with that momentum, March is already shaping up to bloom in our favor.

This month, we begin by honoring the women who paved the way for us here in the 6th Ward and around the world as we celebrate Women’s History Month. Their leadership, resilience, and vision remind us that strong communities are built by people willing to lead, serve, and uplift others.

We are also preparing for several important conversations and initiatives, and I encourage you to stay engaged. At our upcoming ward meeting, we will discuss updates on CDOT projects, 2026 menu suggestions, unresolved Streets and Sanitation concerns from 2025, development along the 79th Street corridor, our 2026 Spend in Black initiative, and more. These conversations are essential as we continue shaping the future of our ward together.

Early voting has also started for the 2026 Illinois Primary. As a reminder, the 6th Ward early voting site is located at Whitney Young Library 415 E. 79th St. Early voting is also available downtown at the Supersite (137 S State) and the Chicago Board of Elections offices (69 W Washington, 6th Floor). As your Alderman, I remain committed to advancing the interests of the 6th Ward, listening, responding, and leading with purpose. Spring is upon us, and the work continues. Thank you for empowering me to show up and serve this community each day. Together, we will continue doing the work, supporting one another, and keeping hope alive as we build the future of the 6th Ward.

6th Ward Zoning Meeting on 2/2



Neighbors in the ward came together for a Community Zoning Meeting to hear, discuss, then vote on matters pertaining to three businesses: Henry Sober Living for Women (84th & Prairie), Kathy's Sober Living (72nd & Princeton) and the 75^th and Indiana Gas Station Expansion. We heard every concern, feedback of support, and education how zoning in the ward. Thank you to everyone who came by and let your voices be heard. 

Hearts & Harmony Luncheon – February 13

On February 13, residents ages 55 and older joined me at The Cov for our Hearts & Harmony Luncheon, a special afternoon dedicated to celebrating community, connection, and love. It was a wonderful opportunity for our seasoned neighbors to come together, share a meal, enjoy great conversation, and strengthen the bonds that make the 6th Ward such a vibrant and caring community.

Events like Hearts & Harmony remind us how important it is to create spaces where our seniors can gather, build friendships, and feel appreciated. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the afternoon so memorable.

6th Ward Community Wide Meeting



Residents of the 6th Ward are invited to join Alderman William Hall for an upcoming Community Wide Meeting to discuss important neighborhood updates and plans for the Vertical Clearance Improvements project.



This meeting is an opportunity for community members to stay informed, ask questions, and share feedback on initiatives impacting the ward.

6th Ward Shred Day – Protect Your Information

Alderman William Hall invites residents to take part in the 6th Ward Shred Day on Saturday, March 28 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the St. Benedict the African Parking Lot (340 W. 66th St.).

This free drive-up event gives residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of sensitive documents and old electronics while protecting personal information from identity theft. Simply drive up, drop off your items, and go.



Residents are encouraged to bring paper documents and small electronics for secure disposal.

Save the Date: Spend In The Black 2026

Mark your calendars for Spend In The Black, a powerful community marketplace celebrating and uplifting Black entrepreneurship.

Join us on Saturday, April 4 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at 75th & King Drive for a full day of shopping, community, and culture. Residents will have the opportunity to support Black-owned businesses, discover unique products and services, and connect with entrepreneurs who are strengthening our local economy.

With live music, giveaways, family-friendly activities, and dozens of vendors, this year’s event is expected to be bigger and even more impactful than last year as we continue the movement to resurrect the Black dollar and invest in our community.

In addition to these events, our office continues to support local entrepreneurs through appointment-only Business Office Hours every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM, offering one-on-one assistance with business proposals, zoning, programs, and resources. Each of these moments reflects our shared commitment to building a stronger, more connected 6th Ward—where we show up for one another and move forward together.

Chicago Police Department Beat Meetings

First Aid & CPR Workshop

Residents are invited to attend a First Aid & CPR Workshop hosted by the Englewood 7th District Community Policing Team. This hands-on session will teach essential lifesaving skills and provide practical guidance from trained professionals on how to respond in emergency situations.



The workshop will also include information on 311 service requests and how residents can better access city services.

Free Monthly Produce Giveaway – 2026 Schedule

The Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation invites residents to its Free Monthly Produce Giveaway at the Healthy Lifestyle Hub. Fresh, seasonal produce is available while supplies last, helping support healthy eating and wellness in the community.

ComEd Power for Good Grant Program

Applications are now open for the ComEd 2026 Power for Good Grant Program, which supports nonprofits, schools, and public agencies working to strengthen communities. Funding opportunities include Green Region, Powering Safe Communities, and Powering the Arts grants. Applications are open through March 13.
