Dear Neighbors,

Serving as your Alderman is one of the greatest honors of my life. Every day, I’m reminded that this work is about people, your stories, your challenges, your ideas, and your wins. The 6th Ward is more than a map on paper; it’s a community full of heart, resilience, and pride.

What keeps me inspired are the moments we share, from walking through the neighborhood and chatting with you on your porch, to celebrating the opening of new businesses like The Park Manor and Southside Market & Café Co-Op. Whether we’re discussing ways to navigate city services or finding solutions together, it’s those face-to-face conversations that remind me what public service is all about.

As we move through this budget season, I want you to know that I hear you, especially the families feeling the impact of SNAP delays and rising costs. These are real challenges, and they test all of us. But if there’s one thing I know about the 6th Ward, it’s that we don’t back down when things get tough. We look out for each other. We roll up our sleeves. And together, we rise stronger.

Being your Alderman isn’t just a title, it’s a trust. Thank you for allowing me to serve, to listen, and to lead alongside you. I’m committed to continuing this work, block by block, neighbor by neighbor, until every person in our ward feels seen, supported, and proud to call the 6th Ward home.

Constituent Service Updates

Service Requests

Over the past seven days, we’ve completed 506 service requests, ensuring your concerns didn’t just get logged, but got action.

But our work doesn’t stop there. Whether it’s breaking down the proposed budget at our Ward-Wide Meeting, celebrating new local businesses like The Park Manor and The Southside Market & Café Co-Op, or simply sharing ideas in passing on the street, every moment reminds me what makes our ward so powerful: our people.

Constituent Calls

Every call, every concern, every idea shared with our office tells a story, a story about neighbors who care deeply about where we live. Last week alone, our office received more than 6,000 calls from residents across the 6th Ward. Each one represents someone who took the time to speak up, to advocate for their block, their family, and their community.

From 1,600 calls to the Department of Water, to 1,200 requests to Streets and Sanitation, and another 1,200 to CDOT and other city departments, our team reviewed every single one, because your voice matters.

6th Ward Ward-Wide Meeting Recap – October 18, 2025

Thank you to everyone who joined our recent Ward-Wide Meeting! Your participation and feedback continue to shape how we move the 6th Ward forward together.

We had thoughtful discussions around key topics including the City Budget, Corporate Head Tax, Social Media Tax, Streets and Sanitation, and a detailed Constituent Response Update from our office. These conversations help ensure that every decision we make reflects the real needs of our residents.

Community Reminders:

• When you see an issue in your neighborhood, use 311 whenever possible, it’s the fastest way to get city services moving.
• Our office responds to requests based on three levels: Issue, Urgent, and Emergency, so we can prioritize quickly and effectively.
• If you spot fly dumping or other illegal activity, please report it to 311 right away.

Celebrating New Business Growth in the 6th Ward

The 6th Ward is growing stronger thanks to two new businesses that embody the creativity, culture, and community spirit of Chicago’s South Side.

At Southside Market & Café (433 E. 79th St.), neighbors can now shop at a community-owned micro-grocery and café committed to expanding access to fresh, healthy food while creating pathways for local business ownership. This innovative model keeps dollars circulating in our community and ensures that healthy options are within reach for all.

Just up the street, Park Manor 75 has opened its doors as a vibrant new wine and charcuterie bar — a “third space” designed to foster culture, connection, and conversation. Featuring two unique areas, The Park and The Manor, this Black-owned business showcases curated wines, craft cocktails, and charcuterie with an emphasis on supporting other Black-owned brands.

These new additions represent more than just business openings, they symbolize investment, opportunity, and pride in the 6th Ward. Our office is proud to celebrate their success and will continue supporting entrepreneurs who help our neighborhoods thrive.
