Thank you 6th Ward Voters for participating in the February 22, 2011 Election. While I did receive 6,696 votes (3,000 votes more than any other candidate), due to the low turnout and the large number of candidate on the ballot, I did not receive more than 50% of the vote.

As a result, the 6th Ward has a Run-Off Election scheduled for April 5, 2011. Applications for Absentee Ballots are now available and Early Voting has begun and ends on March 31st.

The main thing right now is to make sure you, your friends, your neighbors and your associates know that on April 5th there will be another election and we want folks to come out and give me the most votes, once again. Thank you.

Sierra Club Endorsement

For my commitment to building sustainable communities and urban agriculture, I was recently endorsed by the Sierra Club. I am honored to have received their endorsement. To read the entire endorsement, please click here

Window Signs
We are coming down the finish line and need your help!  We continue to need volunteers, and of course campaign contributions.  We also have run into a problem with the theft of our Yard Signs.  We put out 500 signs throughout the ward on Sat. and only 100 are left. I am asking for your support by placing a window sign in your home. They can't take them if they're behind glass. If you would like a window sign, please call (773) 994-5747 and you can go to our website at electlyle.com to make an online contribution.  $25, $50 or any amount would help us defer the costs of election day.

Early Voting Reminder

Early Voting started on March 14th and ends on March 31st. You can vote at Whitney Young Library, 7901 S. King, Monday - Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Remember to Punch 52.

Oratorical Contest
On a non-campaign related issue, we will be having our Annual Souls of Black Folk Oratorical Contest Saturday, March 26th at Harlan High School, 9652 S. Michigan, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  This is a great opportunity for our youth to gain an invaluable experience in public speaking and a greater understanding of the black literary tradition. Please come out and support our youth.
