Message from the President
Dear Parents,

I want to thank those of you who participated in the survey that Mrs. Ramos sent out at the beginning of the summer. Your input is very important to us. Our School Board has also been working on creating a survey that will help guide our next Strategic Plan. We are very excited to see all the work that has been done with our current plan. Please take a few minutes to review our current plan located on our website.

As the first day of school quickly approaches, we have been working very hard to put the finishing touches on the renovations in all the classrooms. We are still waiting on a few things to arrive, but other than that the rooms have had new floors, blinds, storage and technology installed.

The rooms are so bright and conducive to learning. Big thanks again to the Maintenance staff at SMSG and Cardinal Ritter who have worked together so diligently to accomplish this enormous task.

Please enjoy the rest of your summer. See you in a few weeks.

God Bless,
Mrs. Hoy
Message from the Principal
Dear Families and Friends,

We are so excited with the progress of our summer renovations! Several crews have worked over the last six weeks to put in new floors, blinds, and furniture into eleven classrooms. We have also worked to finish painting several classrooms and replace old chalkboards with white boards. We still have a few projects to finish, but we are pleased with what we have accomplished for our students and teachers thus far.

A few weeks ago you should have received your summer tuition statement from Mrs. Areal, as well as a copy of the Free and Reduced Lunch Form. We ask all families to complete this form, whether you think your family will qualify or not, as this information helps with our government funding. Please return these forms to the school office when complete. If you did not receive this form or your tuition statement, please contact the main office.

With just a few weeks of summer vacation left, we want to remind our students that they may still have some summer reading to complete. If you have misplaced the summer reading list, please see the link at the top of this newsletter for the list.

This year, we are once again looking for some parent volunteers to help supervise our elementary students during recess, as well as helping with our morning drop-off and pick-up at the end of the school day. If you might be interested in helping with any of these tasks, please let me know. As a reminder, parent volunteers who are around students must be Safe and Sacred trained. Please complete your online training using the following link and activate your background check as a volunteer: https://safeandsacred-archindy.org .

Until we see you again, please continue to enjoy the rest of your summer.

God Bless,
Mrs. Ramos
Back to School Bash

Remember that on Sunday, August 5th, parents and students are invited to attend our Back to School Bash, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Students can meet their teachers and bring in their school supplies that afternoon. Junior high students will also receive their schedules that day. We will also have a new parent meeting in St. Michael Church from 2:00-2:30 p.m. to answer any questions you may have.
New Student Assessments

If your child has been accepted to St. Michael-St. Gabriel and has not completed a reading and math assessment with Ms. Barkley, please contact the school office at 317-926-0516 to schedule those assessments. These assessments will provide us with their current reading and math levels.
8 th Grade Electronic Devices

Once again we will be allowing our eighth grade students to bring in and use their own computer devices to take notes and work on assignments for their classes. With more and more of our students taking high school classes both at St. Michael-St. Gabriel and at Cardinal Ritter High School, we see a greater need to acclimate our students to the 1 to 1 technology environment they will experience in high school. Therefore, eighth grade students will be allowed to bring in their own computer devices (tablets, iPads, netbooks, or laptops) to use in class. Cell phones cannot be used as their computer devices in class. In August, students and parents will be required to sign an Acceptable Use Policy in order to use our internet and their devices, as there will be specific guidelines students will need to follow. A copy of this policy must be on file before a student is allowed to bring in his or her device. Students will also be responsible for the devices they bring. The school will not assume any responsibility for lost or broken devices.
CYO Football

Any Junior High boys interested in playing CYO football for St. Michael-St. Gabriel, please contact Mike Cmehil at stmikesfootball@aol.com.
