"How beautifully leaves grow old.
How full of light and color are their last days."

- John Burroughs

And just like our calendar's promised, today is fall.

Feels like Mother Nature has thrown an ice cube in the steamy mug of summer. Thank you for the remind that this seasonal shift will bring with it cooler temps. Unpack your slippers, throws and wool sweaters, friends! But let's not think of it as, "goodbye summer", it's just, "see ya later". Because our calendar promises that summer too shall return.

There is comfort and discomfort that comes with seasonal change. Perhaps you'll celebrate a special occasion this fall. An anniversary? A birthday? Maybe you'll take the dreamed-about vacation and enjoy time with family. Wait! I know! You can't wait for Elkhorn Oktoberfest, and I can't blame you! wink

On the opposite side of celebration, there might be grief. There is a chance that fall [or another season] triggers memories of hardship. A lost loved one. That one time that one thing happened that no one ever really gets over. Or maybe you just really dislike being cold, or raking leaves, or shoveling too. It might not all be gum drops and rainbows, but you will get through it.

Seasonal change reminds us that we are expected to alter our behaviors and habits to adjust to what weather patterns we wake up to. Just like Mother Nature can throw us a curve ball, so can life. Be mindful this season. Take care of those around you. Be joyful. Celebrate with those who feel whole again with a pumpkin spiced latte in hand. Be helpful. Lift up those who might need an extra smile. Go the extra mile. I dare you to rake a yard that you do not pay taxes on!

Let's face it, the best part about "community", is that we get to do it together!

Old World Foundation surpasses fundraising goal and
purchases “beer delivery truck” for Old World Wisconsin.
Thanks to the many people who donated to fund the immediate needs related to
the new brewing experience at Old World Wisconsin, Old World Foundation raised over
$46,000. In the spring of 2021, the Chair of the OWF Board of Trustees issued a challenge to
raise $30,000 by the beginning of August for this initiative, and due to the generosity of the
community, this goal was surpassed. Donors were invited to an exclusive evening celebration
at Old World Wisconsin to thank them for their support. This event, called our Sunset Soiree,
was an evening celebrating brewing traditions at Old World Wisconsin.

Fiber is what gives strength and structure to plants. Most grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits contain fiber. Foods rich in fiber are often low in calories and fat, and they fill you up more. They may also reduce your risks for certain health problems. To find out the amount of fiber in canned, packaged, or frozen
foods, read the Nutrition Facts label. It tells you how much fiber is in one serving.
