Here’s to the memories we made, the milestones we celebrated, and the summer adventures ahead. | | Going for Great: A Year to Remember | | |
As the 2024–2025 school year comes to a close, we have much to celebrate — and even more to look forward to...
This year, District 7 continued Going for Great in every sense of the word. From record-setting iReady scores to state and national accolades for our schools, students, teachers, and teams, this has been a year defined by achievement, growth, and community pride.
One of the most meaningful moments of the school year came when D7 residents made a powerful statement about their belief in our mission. Through the overwhelming approval of a historic referendum, our community paved the way for transformative capital projects — most notably, to construction a new Jesse Boyd Elementary School and add an early childhood wing at Mary H. Wright. These investments will leave a lasting legacy and strengthen the foundation of public education in District 7 for years to come.
As we reflect on the impact of this school year and look ahead to the bright future before us, I’m reminded of a simple truth: “Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.” Together, we’ve built something meaningful — through hard work, shared purpose, and unwavering commitment.
Thank you for being part of this extraordinary journey. I hope you find time this summer to rest, recharge, and savor all we’ve accomplished. Let’s carry that same spirit into the year ahead — refreshed, inspired, and always going for great.
With appreciation and warm wishes,
Jeff Stevens
Superintendent

Our seniors finished the year strong! On Friday evening, May 16, a proud crowd of families, friends, and faculty gathered at Viking Stadium as 451 remarkable young men and women crossed the stage during Spartanburg High School’s commencement ceremony.
Senior Class President Karsyn Painter opened the evening with a heartfelt tribute to her fellow graduates. “As you look back on who you’ve become, I hope it’s someone you admire and someone you’re proud of," she reflected. "Tonight is a celebration of our achievements, our friendships, and our future. Whether you're heading to college, joining the workforce, or serving in the military, let’s carry with us the lessons we’ve learned here. Be kind, be curious, and never stop striving for greatness.”
Principal Dr. Andrew McMillan echoed that pride and admiration, sharing, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with this group of students and I love them dearly. It’s been a joy to watch them navigate senior year, and I have no doubt they’ll go on to do great things. They have been outstanding ambassadors for Spartanburg High School.”

And while you may be closing this chapter, your influence will continue in the classrooms, hallways, and hearts you’ve touched along the way.”
