Hello 7th grade parents!
It’s almost time for our 7th grade field trip to the Texas Wildlife Association’s Outdoor Lab Expedition!!!
We will have multiple outdoor labs that students will be guided through by local scientists at a ranch in Boerne, TX.
Location: 32 Brimhall Road, Boerne, TX 78006
Date: Wednesday, October 28, 2026
We will be loading up on buses at the beginning of 1st period on Wednesday, October 28th and return that day in time for Dismissal. For your student to participate, please click here to register your student.
(If you select a lunch, it will charge you $0 on configio, but it will charge you a normal lunch fee on your student’s lunch account.)
Please sign register online by Sunday, October 18th! (anyone registered after this date may not get a school sack lunch and must provide their own)
Without a permission slip signed and registration completed, your student will NOT be able to attend the field trip.
There is a $25 fee for each field trip this year. If this is a hardship for your family, please request a Scholarship Form from brooke.schultze@greatheartstxschools.org .
On the day of the field trip:
- ALL students must bring their own lunch. You will notice a “sack lunch” option to add to your cart on the above link if you prefer to get your sack lunch from the school. The school sack lunch will be a sandwich, chips, fruit, and a vegetable. Students will need to bring their own water bottle.
- All students should be in their uniform polo, but they may wear tennis shoes and khakis or jeans (without tears/holes) that can (and will) get dirty. If your student has hiking boots or waterproof shoes they would rather wear, that would also be acceptable.
- No cell phone use or cameras are allowed.
- This expedition will be 100% outdoors, and the restrooms available will be porta-potties. Please bring a water bottle, bug spray, and sunscreen to survive the Texas outdoor elements!
We will be taking ~10 parent chaperones for this field trip. If you are interested in chaperoning, please fill out the attached Chaperone Form and return it to Mrs. Johnson. You will need to have a completed FERPA form & Raptor Background Check completed at the school to be eligible for chaperoning.
Please note that all chaperones will have to drive to and from the Expedition address on their own; it is a private ranch with a dirt road entrance. Mrs. Hailey Johnson will notify you if you will be a chaperone after your paperwork has been fully processed.
Please email hailey.johnson@greatheartstxschools.org with any questions! We look forward to bringing your students to the Texas Wildlife Association’s Outdoor Lab Expedition!!!
