The Commentary

El Comentario

Dear Ones,

I look forward to seeing you all at all of our regular service times this Sunday! 8am, 10am, and 12pm will be in full effect going forward and I'm delighted we've been able to make that happen sooner than planned.

It's also hard to believe, but the Investiture is only 9 days away! Everyone's been doing such a marvelous job getting ready for it - I feel incredibly grateful and humbled by the time, care, and attention being spent on it all. I know it will be an extraordinary celebration of our new communal life together. RSVPs are not mandatory by any means, but are helpful. So if you can let us know you're coming HERE, that'd be great.

In the meantime, the world continues to struggle and there is pain in many ways and places. One of those places has to do with recent decisions by the government about livestreaming an execution. So I commend to you the message written by Bishop Reddall about this which you can read HERE.

Part of our RE-Humanization Project at Trinity must be to honor the full humanity of every person, even those we see as not honoring us or others. This is what it is to carry the heavy weight of the cross on our shoulders, beloveds. It is to grieve and lament...and then to find our way to our better selves by way of remembering the cross and what it has meant for us. So if you are struggling with these things in this time, please know you're not alone. To struggle is to wrestle with being a person of faith in troubling moments. This is the story of being humans of conscience. So don't stop struggling. It means you care. It means you acknowledge that it's difficult and that there isn't a way to be casual or careless about such things as life and death, no matter what.

This is where we live as followers of the one who lived, died, and rose again for the sake of Love. It is never easy, but it is life-changing if we allow it.

See you in church, beloveds.

Queridos:

Any questions or for more information please contact Dave Howell: davejoanhowell@gmail.com.
