Maximize the Potential!

Dear Friend of CCSD93,

Messages From

Superintendent Hill:

As we get set to begin the 2024-25 school year on Wednesday, August 21 for our elementary and middle schoolers (and August 22 for our preschoolers), CCSD93’s educators will spend the first few days especially focused on building strong, respectful relationships with students while establishing classroom expectations and routines. We know that students can best learn and grow in safe, trusting and supportive environments. Our goal is to ensure these are in place at school, and we are grateful for your partnership and support in providing them at home.

All Students to be Challenged to Develop Portrait of a CCSD93 Graduate Qualities

As the school year progresses, our educators will challenge students to meet and exceed state and federal learning standards while guiding them to build the qualities put forth in the Portrait of a CCSD93 Graduate.

Our students will be:

  • Fearless Learners who relentlessly pursue knowledge.
  • Engaged Citizens who actively and productively contribute to a larger society.
  • Skilled Communicators who collaborate and exchange ideas with others.
  • Thoughtful Visionaries who understand what they need to be successful.
  • Self-Empowered Individuals who have the skills and tools to achieve personal happiness.

It is the will of our community that our students develop these attributes by graduation from 8th grade. They were developed based on a thorough review of interview, focus group and community forum feedback from community members, parents, students and staff. For more details on these traits, I invite you to review the complete Portrait of a CCSD93 Graduate document, which is linked at www.ccsd93.com/pog

The Portrait of a CCSD93 Graduate serves as the vision for students in our overarching plan for organizational success, the CCSD93 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, which you can find linked in its entirety at www.ccsd93.com/strategicplan. I invite you to spend a few minutes reviewing the plan when you have a moment, including is priorities and objectives, the key performance indicators that measure its progress, and CCSD93’s core values that serve as the fundamental driving forces behind its implementation. You can always find our Strategic Plan and Portrait of a Graduate linked at the bottom of our Enews messages.

Attendance Matters: Tips for Building Positive Attendance Habits

I shared this here last week, but it bears repeating as the school year starts. In examining our student data from previous years, we consistently find that:

  • Students who miss 1 or 0 days of school per month throughout the school year are twice as likely to meet grade level expectations in reading and math than those who miss 2+ days of school per month.
  • Students who arrive on time to school also generally outperform those who are frequently tardy.

Without question, on-time attendance truly matters to student success. Knowing this, our goal is to help students and their families to build positive attendance habits this school year, and school administrators will be making an extra effort to monitor attendance more closely than ever.

Please review these info sheets for some great tips to ensure your child is consistently in attendance and on time this school year.
