ONLINE AUGUST JOURNEY GROUPS
Classes are hosted by The Abbey at St. David's. Registration is open to new participants, unless otherwise noted.
Aug. 2-23, meets Sundays, 4-5 p.m.
Leader: Carolyn Cornell. This group will discuss the insightful and thought-provoking show On Being   with Krista Tippett . Tippett is a Peabody Award-winning broadcaster and National Humanities Medalist. Her show airs at 6 a.m. every Sunday on 96.5 FM here in Austin. It is also available online via her podcast. She interviews scientists, theologians and others from a broad scope like poets and activists. Each week’s episode offers much to think about and discuss.

Starting Aug. 9, 2-4 p.m.
Leaders: Doug Bell, Pete Rose, and other trained facilitators. The committee for Becoming the Beloved Community will be offering a series of Racial Healing Dialogue Circles beginning in August. These programs are intended to be safe places for loving conversations about racial injustices that have been part of our culture for far too long. The healing circles will give everyone a chance to tell their stories about how they perceive these racial injustices in their lives. All will be able to talk about their feelings in a non-judgmental setting. The healing dialogues are about listening to others and conveying our feelings. Professionally produced documentaries have been provided by the national Episcopal Church to encourage discussion. The documentary videos and suggested written articles will be available for viewing at home in advance of the dialogue circles.

Aug. 5-26, meets Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m.
Leader: The Rev. Ron Smith. Stoicism is the philosophy of the day in its emphasis on dealing with the unmanageable elements of our chaotic world. A particularly accessible window into stoicism is A Handbook for New Stoics: How to Thrive in a World Out of Your Control , by Massimo Pigliucci and Gregory Lopez. This Zoom group will explore selected chapters that particularly bear on our present epidemic and its attendant inner turmoil.

Your Brain on Love | Registration Open (Limit: 16 participants)
Aug. 9-30, meets Sundays, 6-8 p.m.
Join couples therapist and St. David’s parishioner Margaret Martin for a four-week dip into the audiobook Your Brain on Love: The Neurobiology of Healthy Relationships (YBOL), by Stan Tatkin, PsyD, MFT. Although the book focuses on romantic relationships, much of the information may be applied to any type of relationship. This is not a therapeutic group, and the facilitator will not provide professional clinical advice.

Thank you for your generosity to God and St. David's Episcopal Church. Your gifts support our mission-critical ministries.

Phone Pals
PHONE PALS
While we are all dealing with the vast changes in our personal worlds, St. David’s wants everyone to know that we are here for each other – even if we must do it virtually. Father Chuck led a recent discussion in which a number of parishioners offered to check in on others in the parish during this uncertain time through phone calls. To this end, we are setting up something we have named Phone Pals

This means, you may be receiving a call from another member of St. David’s to ask how you’re doing, if you have any prayer requests, and if you’d like to talk on a regular basis – and that’s it! The call is simply a way for us to stay connected, while we cannot gather in-person for worship or fellowship.

Contact Catherine Roberts by email, or call/text 512-658-1154, to get a Phone Pal and be added to the callers list.
