Dear Parents and Portola Valley School District Community:

Yesterday, Trustee Gulliver LaValle submitted his resignation from the Portola Valley School District Governing Board of Trustees, effective immediately. Trustee LaValle was elected to the Board in November, 2015 and his term was slated to end in December, 2019. Mr. LaValle will begin a new job in Los Gatos this Fall, and is moving out of the Portola Valley district boundaries.

The Board of Trustees would like to recognize Gulliver’s four year contribution to the Portola Valley School District. Gulliver held the role of Governing Board Clerk for one year (2017), and the role of President for one year (2018) . Both of his children began their elementary school enrollment at Ormondale Schools, and transitioned to 4th grade at Corte Madera. His oldest son will complete his 8th grade year, and graduate in June, 2020, with his peers. We thank Gulliver for all of his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Superintendent Roberta Zarea and Board President Jeff Klugman thank Trustee LaValle for his dedication to the improvement of the Portola Valley School District.

CA Education GC§ 5093 states that when a Board vacancy occurs within four months of the end of a Board member's term, the Board shall take no action.
