Dear Friend of CCSD93,

Messages From

Superintendent Hill:

With the first day of school scheduled for August 21, I’m pleased to share with you this first edition of Community Consolidated School District 93 (CCSD93)’s Enews of the 2024-25 school year!

Parents and staff members will receive this electronic newsletter to the email address you have on file with the district every Friday (except winter break) from now until the end of the school year. It is designed to keep you informed about CCSD93 by sharing important news, programs, updates, school and classroom highlights, and relevant upcoming district and community events. Community members are also invited to subscribe by completing this form.

Recap From a Busy Summer

I hope you and your family had the opportunity to unwind a bit and enjoy some of your favorite activities together during the summer.

Here are a few highlights of what we’ve been working on throughout the summer:

  • I’m proud to report that we distributed more than 4,200 meals to students through our Summer Meal Program. Thank you to all who participated, our partners at Organic Life, the lunchroom supervisors who distributed the meals twice weekly throughout the summer, and our Board of Education who approved this program for the benefit of our community.

  • CCSD93 hosted Summer STEAM Camp, with nearly 300 incoming 1st-8th grade students collaborating on hands-on projects with peers from across the district, focusing on a different aspect of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math each morning for a week.

  • CCSD93’s band and orchestra directors welcomed more than 200 outgoing 4th through 8th graders for Summer Music Camp for a week of working on skills, performance and fun.

  • More than 100 staff members participated in our Summer Learning Academy. Educators from throughout the district shared and learned about best-practice tools and strategies to improve their craft and student learning opportunities.

  • Dozens of our outgoing 5th graders marched in the Carol Stream Independence Day Parade with CCSD93 administrators and our partners at the Carol Stream Police Department.

  • Our dedicated Buildings & Grounds crew and custodians worked to clean and beautify our buildings for the start of this school year.

  • Our central office team and school administrators worked to prepare for the school year in a number of ways, and our secretaries recently returned to help gear up for 2024-25.

  • A variety of committees met to discuss, review and improve upon various aspects of our curriculum.

  • We have welcomed more than 40 new staff members to our New Educator Orientation this week to onboard and enable them to hit the ground running this school year.

Attendance Matters: Tips for Building Positive Attendance Habits

In examining our student data from previous years, we consistently find that:

  • Students who miss 1 or 0 days of school per month throughout the school year are twice as likely to meet grade level expectations in reading and math than those who miss 2+ days of school per month.
  • Students who arrive on time to school also generally outperform those who are frequently tardy.

Without question, on-time attendance truly matters to student success. Knowing this, our goal is to help students and their families to build positive attendance habits this school year, and school administrators will be making an extra effort to monitor attendance more closely than ever.

Please review these info sheets for some great tips to ensure your child is consistently in attendance and on time this school year.
