8th Grade Field Trip

Dear 8th grade families,

On Friday, February 9, the eighth grade will visit the Museum of Science. We are excited to take students to the Moons: World of Mystery planetarium show in connection with our current project designing missions to search for life beyond Earth. We will also explore two permanent exhibits—Exploring AI, which includes a Mars rover on display, and Arctic Adventure, which shows how scientists use ice cores to track long-term changes in climate. These experiences will be great additions to the 8th grade focus on current issues in science.

TRIP DETAILS

  • Students will have morning classes as usual with an early lunch at 11 a.m. in the Dining Hall. We will depart for the museum around 11:45 a.m. and be back on campus around 2:30 p.m. for afternoon activities.
  • Beaver field trips do not involve any shopping. Your child does not need to bring any money on this trip. This trip might be particularly tempting with a gift shop and cafeteria. Please talk to your child about not purchasing anything on this trip (if they do happen to have money with them).
  • Below you will find an important note from the school nurse Talia Ossowski about field trip medical information.

We expect this to be both an educational and fun class experience and, of course, we expect everyone to be on their best behavior.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

A NOTE FROM THE NURSE

Please make sure to bring your EpiPen, inhalers and diabetic supplies with you on the field trip if you require any of these medications. These medications must be with the student at all times. Medications are not supplied by the health office for field trips.

Any non-emergency medications (anything other than the medications listed above) need to be checked by the school nurse at least 3 days in advance of the field trip. A field trip medication form must accompany the medication and be brought to the school nurse. Please contact the school nurse at tossowski@bcdschool.org or 617-738-2739 if you have any questions.
