Dear Langley Community:
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!
The renovation project has been moving forward this summer with a lot of progress. As of today, the project is on schedule and projected to be completed on time. If you haven't been on campus in a while, you'll notice a lot of changes:
- The contractors are putting the finishing touches on the aux gym which will be available for us to use very soon.
- The administrative suite is on schedule to be completed by the end of winter break.
- The auditorium and performing arts area is also on schedule to be completed by the end of winter break.
- The science wing in the back of the building is also on schedule and projected to be completed sometime this spring.
- The parking lot by the stadium has been paved and marked off for student and visitor parking.
- The base has been poured and the tennis courts are projected to be opened later this fall.
All in all, the project has been moving along relatively smoothly with minimal disruption to the educational environment. Please remember, however, this is a construction project and it is possible for delays to occur which could change the completion date.
Please be flexible and patient as we go through this project. We are certainly excited about our renovated facility and believe it will
enhance our educational and extra-curricular programs in addition to bringing
a great sense of pride to the Langley community! If you have any questions please contact
James Robertson at
jrobertson@fcps.edu.
We are excited to see our students again. Ww're working to make Langley a welcoming school where all can and will succeed. Our curriculum teams have
developed creative and innovative lessons so that your children will be enthusiastic about learning. We're excited to have you as part of our community as well.
Please join the various organizations that help to support your kids, such as the PTSA, Athletic Boosters, Performing Arts Leagues, and many others. Come out to a game, a performance, a concert or any of the other activities that feature our students.
Enjoy Langley and all it has to offer!

letter from the ptsa president
|
We'd like to
welcome everyone to the 2015-16 school year, especially those families and teachers who are new to Langley HS.
We have a lot to be excited about: new principal, new start times, new students & faculty and new building (well, almost). Our new principal,
Fred Amico, has incredible energy, and
it IS contagious!
Tonight is Back-to-School Night for grades 11 & 12. You'll hear from your child
's teachers about curriculum and expectations.
Every teacher, every classroom, and every student at Langley benefits from the generous contributions from Langley parents. As a matter of fact, the
eNews you're reading is possible because of your PTSA donations
. So, please
send in your bright yellow PTSA membership form
with your dues and donations.
Last, year, the
PTSA appropriated over $47,000 for items used in classrooms.
Every single dollar helps LHS continue to be one of the best schools in the United States. The first round of PTSA appropriations is coming up, so the sooner you send in your contribution, the sooner teacher-requested items can be in the classroom.
Parents, we
encourage you to
attend PTSA meetings, class coffees and class dinners when you can. As you all know, high school isn't like it was when we were teenagers. Issues like graduation requirements, potential budget cuts affecting FCPS programs, parking spot updates, and old SAT vs new SAT are discussed at these events. At these school-sponsored events we can
find out what is really happening at Langley, beyond the rumors. Plus, some of the most helpful info is shared among parents who attend.
Finally, if you have ideas or suggestions regarding programming, or ideas from another school, please let us know.
We're always open to new ideas, especially from those ready to pitch in! Visit
our website to stay up to date on FCPS, Langley and class-specific news.
We look forward to working with many of you this coming year.
Terri Markwart, Chrissie Lavin,
PTSA President PTSA President-Elect

student directory online data
|
The PTSA has partnered with AtoZ Directories to create our online and print student directory.
All student data will be verified online; there will be no paper forms to return to the school.
New for this year is that
all registered students will be included in the Student Directory. You'll receive an email from the Langley Directory requesting that you review and verify your contact i
nformation. After logging in to your account, you can make changes to your information or opt out of the directory.
Again, the default is that all students will be included in the Directory. You must log in to make changes or opt out. All student information not verified will print as is. If you have questions, please contact langleydirectory@gmail.com.
