Great opportunity for parents and kids to work on a project together and teach concern for others' basic needs

This is an ideal way to practice the Corporal Works of Mercy *

Thank you on behalf of St Mary's Three Squares Ministry

*The Corporal Works of Mercy are found in the teachings of Jesus and give us a model for how we should treat all others, as if they were Christ in disguise. They "are charitable actions by which we help our neighbors in their bodily needs" (USCCA). They respond to the basic needs of humanity as we journey together through this life.

Fasting for Racial Justice
Bishop Shelton J. Fabre’s recent call to fast in response to racism on the feast of St. Peter Claver, Sept. 9, was a call to be attentive to the inequalities across society and acknowledge the sin of racism that continues to exist.

The day was chosen because St. Peter Claver is known as the “apostle to the slaves."

He said fasting, when entered into correctly, “connects us to something greater than ourselves, namely God and the community of the church, and we are called as disciples of Jesus Christ to live in unity, peace and harmony with our brothers and sisters.”

REMOTE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Religious Education learning will be conducted remotely until January, 2021 as per the Archdiocese of Newark.

The Religious Education program is responsible for teaching and the enrichment of the children and youth of the parish family, which includes preparing them to receive the sacraments.

Objectives
1. To foster a potential encounter with Jesus Christ through teaching.
2. To teach the Doctrine of the Catholic Church by using a variety of teaching modules.
3. To encourage children and youth to live a Catholic Christian way of life, inspiring them to live a life of ministry and service.

Religious Education is a life long learning process. However, each child who is registered is expected to complete the full 8 year process to be formed as a disciple of Jesus.

“If you like, think of religion as a trellis, a framework, on which the vine of love can grow…. Most of us need the support of religion… For myself this is certainly true. I need the support of religion. With its help I soar free.” Wendy Beckett
