Dear ,
The 9/11 Tribute Center announced and unveiled the new exhibit, "Building World Trade," December 10, 2012 in the lower level gallery.
As the holiday season draws near, the Tribute Center guides came together for a celebration with 9/11 Tribute Center this past December 5, 2012. It was a beautiful gathering of friends who all share their 9/11 experience in New York City and to recognize those who go above and beyond at the Tribute Center.
In support of our school fundraiser and building awareness of the September 11th attacks, your assistance is needed! Also see Clorox School Grants for Education program for the Fireboat John J. Harvey 9-11 Interactive Museum at Rondout Valley.
Have a peaceful holiday and best wishes for the new year!

Over the past year One World Trade Center has appeared in the downtown skyline. A new mix of businesses and government offices will infuse the area with diversity. Visitors to tye Tribute Center's new exhibit, learn about the restoration of a community that has been revitalized with new parks and playgrounds and can see the progress. Incorporating a wall-length luminescent image of the future skyline of Lower Manhattan and multimedia animations, the displays project viewers into the vision of Lower Manhattan which has been developed by urban planners and civic leaders. Listen to audio stories from designers and architects rebuilding Lower Manhattan - Robert Douglass, Chairman of the Downtown Alliance, Uday Durg, Senior V.P. Lower Manhattan Projects, MTA Capital Construction, Steven Plate, Director of World Trade Construction for The Port Authority of NY & NJ, and Jan Ramirez of the National September 11th Memorial and Museum. The new exhibit interprets four aspects of the rebuilding: the 9/11 Memorial; the creation of new office buildings; the new transit centers; and the growth of the residential and business community. Videos, oral history excerpts and flip-through books of photos and engaging personal quotes offer specific details. Larry Silverstein, the president of Silverstein Properties, said, "There's nothing that's been more important to New Yorkers than rebuilding the Trade Center. These buildings are beautifully designed. They're each iconic. I hope when people look back, they'll feel that we did a first-class quality job." In addition to the forward-looking media elements, the exhibit features charming sketches of the work-in-progress at the World Trade Center by Port Authority architect Tom Grassi. Mr. Grassi explains, "As the work progressed throughout the WTC site, if I had a break at lunch -- sometimes out my window, sometimes on the site -- I started doing very quick sketches.... Once construction really got started there was so much happening visually." The 9/11 Tribute Center acknowledges with deep appreciation the generous support of Silverstein Properties and The Port Authority of NY & NJ as the title sponsors of the exhibit, and the collaboration of a number of partners who generously contributed media content including Silverstein Properties, Brookfield Properties, National September 11 Memorial & Museum, and The New York Times.

CLOROX SCHOOL GRANT FOR EDUCATION
Help the Clorox School Grant for Education program! The program needs your assistance in an attempt to secure funding through the Clorox School Grants for Education program for the Fireboat John J. Harvey 9-11 Interactive Museum at Rondout Valley. On average 17 teachers and 500 students participate annually throughout the Rondout Valley School District located in Ulster County, New York.
The project won a teacher award through the 9/11 Tribute Center in 2011, for the 2010 - 2011 school year.
This is the 4th year for the project in which Rondout Valley creates a museum where many grades come together and explore topics from what courage looks like, to why 9-11 happened. The common piece to the project is the story of the Fireboat John J. Harvey's involvement in 9-11. The larger community is invited to attend the museum. This year the museum will take place at the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston, New York on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
You can vote directly from the website: https://powerabrightfuture.clorox.com search Accord, New York to find the grant project. 9/11 TRIBUTE CENTER GOES INTO THE CLASSROOM
As the 9/11 Tribute Center expands its offering to school groups. Sixth Graders from Owens Elementary interacted with Tribute docent and World Trade Center survivor, Joe Arcieri, asking him thoughtful questions that they had prepared ahead of time. They were riveted by the stories that Joe told them and then squealed with excitement as they were directed to view construction of the site taking place behind Joe.
What made this event especially exciting was that these kids were sitting in their classroom in Texas, and the Tribute Center had just conducted its first videoconferencing event. "It was amazing! The kids continued discussing it later that day," said their teacher Lesley Ayers. Based on the success of the initial school teleconference, we hope to conduct many more.
