Dear Friend of CCSD93,
CCSD93 Gains International Attention for Personalized Learning & Innovative Teaching
On Wednesday, CCSD93 was honored to host 22 educator delegates from Guangzhou, China through the 21st Century Institute's Educational Ambassador Program! The group, who are mostly principals, knew of CCSD93's reputation for providing a personalized education for students and came to learn more. After speaking with district administrators and Board members, they visited Carol Stream School and Stratford Middle School. Students were thrilled to share what and how they learn with our guests, as the delegation observed Stratford's Creative Communicative & Innovative Arts class, Coding class, STEM Wing, Innovation Center, Mandarin Chinese class and more; as well as Carol Stream's grade level classes, Art class, Music class, and its Innovation Center.
The district was humbled to receive gifts of personalized scrolls, yue silk flowers from Guangzhou and handmade gifts from the guests' elementary students. We hope to continue a global collaborative relationship with the educators by connecting our students with theirs!

Check out this video of CCSD93 students explaining to our guests via interpreter how they've coded a drone.

CCSD93: Personalizing Education for Students
CCSD93: Personalizing Education for Students
Congratulations to the Newest Recipients of CCSD93's Personalized Education Certificate!
I congratulate Heritage Lakes 4/5 Magnet Teacher Laura Gehrke, Cloverdale Music Teacher Lesley Klappauf, and Stratford 8th Grade Teacher Kathy Nikides for receiving CCSD93's Personalized Education Certificate!

Each earned the Certificate by completing 36 in-house/graduate semester hours, which in actuality took 540 hours apiece, in CCSD93's Personalized Learning professional development series. In their journeys, each has transformed her instruction and approach to instruction.

Mrs. Gehrke, Miss Klappauf, and Mrs. Nikides have exemplified the very best in personalized instruction. Their achievements are exactly why we developed the Personalized Education Certificate in the first place. Their students have and will continue to benefit greatly from their efforts.

Yesterday CCSD93 Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning & Innovation Dr. Marie Hoffmann and I presented each with a plaque for her achievement. Congratulations!
Congratulations Mrs. Nikides!
Congratulations Mrs. Gehrke!
Congratulations Miss Klappauf!
Jay Stream 8th Graders Experience Engaging Biology Lesson at Fermilab
8th grade students from Jay Stream Middle School visited Fermilab in Batavia yesterday. They learned about the history of the Illinois prairie, studied ponds and bison firsthand, and swept the lab's prairie area with hand nets on a quest for bugs to study. What a terrific hands-on opportunity for students to apply what they've been learning in the classroom and interact with the natural environment!
Elementary Parents Invited to Math Info Nights
CCSD93's elementary classrooms are in the process of implementing new resources to better teach mathematics. During the month of September, each CCSD93 elementary school will hold a 30-minute Math Info Night for parents to learn key information about the new resources. CCSD93 curriculum specialists will share details about the changes, tips on how parents can help students with math, and answer parent questions. Please attend! See the image above for details.
