Congratulations Matt McGuigan!

We are delighted to announce that our very own Matt McGuigan has been awarded the 2019 Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year by the New Hampshire Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance!

As stated by this organization, By virtue of this award, Matt has distinguished himself in our profession. This recognition is evidence of his dedication to professional excellence. He has demonstrated leadership and has a reputation for exemplary work. Testimony offered on Matt's behalf, enthusiastically validates his commitment to his students and to quality physical education. Receiving a state level award, bestowed by ones professional colleagues, is a coveted honor of which Matt should be especially proud.

Congratulations, Matt!

Head's Note

Teachers pack a lot of learning into every day at Crossroads! And as we begin the school year, teachers establish important goals for student learning in their classrooms. These goals are meant to be challenging, but attainable. Teachers skillfully encourage growth in ways that are both engaging and rewarding. And as they gain a better understanding of attitudes and learning styles for each of their students, goals can be customized to be in a sweet spot for learning-neither too easy nor too difficult. So while teachers are covering a lot of ground, they are also thinking strategically about where best to set the bar for learning both individually and collectively. What an exciting process for all of us to witness!

I hope that you were able to get a taste of this process at the Back-to-School Night last Thursday. But please know you are always welcome to learn more about teacher goals and your students' learning styles and growth throughout the year.

Yours truly, Brad

News From The Art Room

The Dot  , a  K-8 Collaborative Art Installation!

The Dot is a book by Peter Reynolds that encourages us to be brave about expressing ourselves. It gently reminds us to start small and explore the IDEA. It is also a tribute to great teachers who know how to use humor, "off-the-path" approaches, and who have the vision to see the possibilities in EVERY student. The book ends off with Vashti sharing this gift with others, beginning a ripple of inspiration. Come check out our colorful display!
