At his afternoon press briefing today, Governor DeWine shared that Cuyahoga County continues to be at Orange/Level 2 (“Public Emergency: Increased exposure and spread. Exercise a high degree of caution.”)
We will not receive the specific county data until tomorrow afternoon. Reviewing the seven indicators from the state reporting, it appears that the county is showing slight increases in a few of the indicators. This is concerning and may be a sign of an upward trend. So, for at least the next couple of weeks, we will remain in remote mode and will continue to monitor the data. I know that the district being in remote mode has been extremely challenging for some of our families. Please know that the teachers, support staff, administrators and newly-formed Fairview Care Crew have been doing everything they can to provide any and all types of assistance for our families. We have helped connect families with rent and bill payments, food needs, clothing, internet services, and even diapers and formula. With the assistance of local churches and support organizations, our Family and Community Engagement Coordinator, Carrie Sullivan, has helped make critical connections for our families. If we can assist, please reach out to Ms. Sullivan at (440) 356-3500 ext 4117. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all work through this together.
The district is happy to announce that the USDA has extended free meals to ALL students. Your child is now eligible to receive lunch and breakfast every day at no cost. This is a temporary program that is expected to last through December 31, 2020. The district will communicate if the program ends before December 31.
Please email Diana Hill at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up. If you are already receiving meals, you do not need to sign up again.
The district encourages families to complete the National School Lunch Free or Reduced Application before October 1 to determine eligibility status for when the temporary program ends. By filling out this application, regardless of eligibility, the information provided is crucial to ensure funding for many programs in the district. Apply with the print application or online via PaySchools.org
